Emory Women's Swimming & Diving Places 31 on UAA 30th Anniversary Team

The Emory University Women's Swimming and Diving team saw 31 current and former student-athletes named to the University Athletic Association 30th Anniversary team announced Wednesday morning by the conference office. The 31 Eagles make up more than half of the anniversary team as the UAA named 60 student-athletes in total.

Emory has won every Association championship since 1999 and 25 UAA team titles overall. The Eagles run of dominance extends to the national stage as well with Jon Howell-led teams winning 10 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving national championships in a current 13-year window including a streak of eight straight.

The 30th Anniversary team consists of each student-athlete who met these qualifications: named UAA Swimmer of the Year, UAA Diver of the Year, won an individual event at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, or won the same event at least three times at the UAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

Among the 31 Eagles honored by the UAA are five Hall of Famers: Kendal Hansen (3x NCAA 100 Breaststroke champion and 4x UAA 100 Breaststroke champion), Lindsey Hoffner (2003 NCAA 1,650 Freestyle Champion), Katie Hughes (2x UAA Diver of the Year and 1993 NCAA IM Dive champion), Lisa Kung (1999 UAA Swimmer of the Year) and Rachel LeClair (3x UAA Swimmer of the Year, 1989 NCAA 200 Backstroke champion, 1990 NCAA 400 IM champion, 3x UAA 50 Freestyle champion, 3x UAA 200 Backstroke champion).

The list also includes four current members of the Emory Eagles: senior Cindy Cheng (2x UAA Swimmer of the Year, 2017 NCAA champion in 200 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke, 3x UAA 200 Backstroke champion), junior Julia Durmer (2017 NCAA 1,650 Freestyle champion), junior Fiona Muir (2017 NCAA 100 Freestyle champion) and senior Julia Wawer (2016 NCAA 200 Freestyle champion).
