Emory Women Finish Second, Men Place Fourth at SCAD Invitational

The Emory University Swimming and Diving teams sent a contingent of swimmers to Savannah, GA this weekend to compete in the SCAD Invitational. The Eagles claimed a pair of individual event victories in addition to six NCAA B Cut times across the three day meet.

The Emory women came in second overall out of 14 participating schools with 615.5 total points while the men placed fourth out of 11 schools with 358.5 points. Wingate University swept the invitational, capturing the top spot in both the women's and men's standings with 1,060 and 893 points, respectively.

Earning event titles for the Eagles were senior Sia Beasley in the 100 Backstroke and freshman Bethany Seagraves in the 200 Backstroke. Beasley posted one of Emory's six NCAA qualifying times to win the event, recording a time of 57.09. In the 200 Back, Seagraves touched in a time of 2:04.26 to earn top honors in the event.

Adding NCAA B Cut times for the Eagles in Savannah were freshman Camille Jablonski in the 100 Breaststroke (2nd, 1:04.29), senior Shelby Frugé in the 1,650 Freestyle (2nd, 17:22.98), junior Tyler Curran (4th, 16:00.73) and sophomore Sean Steele (7th, 16:13.38) in the 1,650 Freestyle and sophomore Evan Brock in the 200 Butterfly (2nd, 1:49.39).

The Eagles will be off for a few weeks for final exams and the holiday break before returning to action on January 12th with a dual meet at Florida Southern.
