Women's Swimming & Diving Coasts to Dual Meet Win at Florida Southern

The Emory University Women's Swimming and Diving team opened the spring semester with a 173-88 dual meet win against Florida Southern College Friday evening in Lakeland, Florida.

The Eagles claimed event victories in nine of the 14 events contested at the outdoor, swimming-only meet with senior Fiona Muir and sophomore Lucy Daro each securing a pair of wins for the visitors. Muir swept the 100 and 200 freestyle events, posting times of 53.31 in the 100 and 1:55.39 in the 200. Daro took home event wins with marks of 25.06 in the 50 Free and 58.72 in the 100 Butterfly.

Daro added wins in both relay events on the evening as she, sophomore Grace Snyder, freshman Edie Bates and senior Meg Taylor took first in the 400 Medley and teamed with Muir, Taylor and senior Hannah Lally to record a time of 1:38.46 in the 200 Freestyle.

Also registering event victories for the Eagles on Friday were junior Maria Turcanu in the 200 Butterfly (2:08.67), freshman Gaige Elms in the 200 Backstroke (2:09.21) and freshman Clio Hancock in the 200 IM (2:10.46).

The Eagles continue their January slate next Saturday with a tri-meet scheduled against West Florida and Delta State. Action from Pensacola, Florida is set to begin at 8:30 AM EST.
