The Emory University Women's Swimming and Diving team continued its strong performance at the 2019 Championships, claiming four more All-America swims on Friday night at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC.
The Eagles, looking for their 10th-straight national championship and 12th overall, hold a slim 11-point margin heading into the final day of competition on Saturday. Emory, which leads the field with 351 points, saw Kenyon shave 13-points off the lead on day three as the Ladies enter Saturday in second place with 340 points. Denison University is also in the title mix, sitting in third place at 319 points.
Saturday's schedule of events features the 1,650 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 200 Breaststroke, Men's 3-meter diving and the 400 Freestyle Relay. Senior Ashley Daniels and juniors Maria Turcanu and Caroline Olson highlighted the Eagles Friday night, earning solo All-America honors. Turcanu began the night with an eighth place effort in the 200 Fly (2:02.87) before Olson added an eighth place finish in the 100 Back, touching in a time of 56.74. Daniels turned in the highest finish of the Emory individuals on the evening, placing fifth in the 100 Breast at 1:02.14.
The Eagles concluded the evening with a bronze showing in the 800 Freestyle Relay as seniors Meg Taylor, Fiona Muir, sophomore Lucy Daro and freshman Clio Hancock registered a total time of 7:20.90.
In addition to the All-America swims, the Eagles saw four All-America Honorable Mention performances with freshman Allie Dixon (9th, 2:03.21) and Hancock (12th, 2:03.21) in the consolation final of the 200 Fly and freshmen Edie Bates (9th, 1:03.33) and Zoe Walker (11th, 1:03.56) in the 100 Breast.
