SEVENTH-RANKED EMORY WOMEN'S TENNIS ELIMINATED FROM THE
NCAA TOURNAMENT
(May 6) The four-time defending National Championship Emory Women's
Tennis Team will fall short of a fifth-consecutive title, as the
Eagles were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament after a 5-4 loss to
the University of the South (Tenn.).
The Eagles took an early advantage in the match, getting an 8-1 win
in second doubles from Tshema Nash and
Allison Fick, and a second win from Jenny
Moscato and Kirsten Hillock in the
third-doubles role.
After the Tigers took the first two singles matches, the Eagles
received a win from Hillock (6-3, 6-2) to tie the match at
three. Nash picked up a singles win as well to tie the match
at four victories apiece. However, Sabra
Rogers dropped a thrilling three-set match (6-3,2-6,6-3),
giving the University of the South a 5-4 victory over Emory.
The loss brings the Eagles final 2007 record to 14-9, while the
University of the South improves to 21-1. Although Emory has
been eliminated from the NCAA Tournament's team competition,
Richelle Marasigan, along with Rogers and Nash
will compete in the NCAA Individual Tournament, beginning on May
18th.
SEVENTH-RANKED EAGLES DEFEAT HUNTINGDON TO ADVANCE TO
NCAA REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

(May 5) The seventh-ranked Emory University Women's Tennis Team
will advance to the regional championship match of the NCAA
National Tournament after shutting out Huntingdon College (Ala.)
5-0 on Saturday.
Emory won each of its doubles matches, and received singles
victories from freshman Allison Fick and sophomore
Jenny Moscato. The win marks the Eagles
second shutout of the season over Huntingdon, as Emory improved to
14-8 on the campaign.
The win sets up a rematch with the University of the South (Tenn.),
the host institution for the regionals, on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
Emory suffered a 5-4 defeated to the Tigers on April 10th.
Emory, who defeated the University of the South during last year's
NCAA Tournament, will look to continue its quest for the team's
fifth-consecutive national title.
THREE EMORY WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYERS TO COMPETE AT THE
INDIVIDUAL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
(May 2) Three members of the ninth-ranked Emory University
Women's Tennis Team have been selected to play in the 2007 NCAA
Division III Women's Tennis Championships. Senior
Richelle Marasigan and freshman Tshema
Nash have been selected for singles play, and Marasigan
will team with freshman Sabra Rogers for the
doubles championship.
The individual championships include 32 singles players and 16
doubles teams. Emory recorded the National doubles champions
from 2001-2004, and former Eagle Mary Ellen Gordon took home the
singles championship in 2003 and 2004.
The singles and doubles championships will be held from May
18th-20th, immediately following the team championships at the
University of Mary Washington (Va.).
SEVENTH-RANKED EMORY WOMEN'S TENNIS EARNS NCAA
TOURNAMENT BID
(May 1) The Emory University Women's Tennis Team will
begin its quest for the squad's fifth-consecutive National
Championship, as the Eagles will travel to Sewanee, TN to take part
in the first, second and third rounds of the NCAA National
Tournament this weekend.
Emory will enter the tournament at the seventh seed, after
compiling a 13-8 record during the regular season. The Eagles
will join the fourth seed and host institution, the University of
the South (Tenn.), along with Huntingdon College (Ala.), Meredith
College (N.C.), Principia College (Ill.) and Methodist University
(N.C.).
As the seven seed, the Eagles will receive a first-round bye.
Emory will play its first match on Saturday, May 5th at 10:00 AM,
against the winner of the Methodist-Principia first-round
match. If the Eagles win, they will play in the regional
championship on Sunday, May 6th at 1:00 PM.
Emory has played matches against three of the five potential teams
Emory could face during the first-three rounds. Emory
defeated Huntingdon 9-0 at home on March 4th, winning each singles
match in straight sets. Also on March 4th, the Eagles
defeated Methodist, winning 8-1 and winning five of their singles
matches in straight sets. Emory and Sewanee met on April
10th, with the University of the South squeaking by the Eagles in a
5-4 Tiger win. During the match, Emory won two of its three
doubles matches, and had singles victories from Sabra Rogers and
Kirsten Hillock.
Should Emory win the tournament, the Eagles will advance to the
final rounds of the NCAA tournament, starting May 15th in
Fredericksburg, VA.
FIVE EAGLES RECEIVE TENNIS ALL-UAA HONORS; EMORY
RECEIVES COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR
(Apr. 30) The ninth-ranked Emory University Women's
Tennis team received a number of individual conference honors
following its 20th-consecutive victory University Athletic
Association (UAA) tournament. Emory had four players named to
the All-UAA first team and one to the All-UAA second team for
singles play, and one doubles pair named to each of the All-UAA
first and second teams. In addition, Emory Head Coach
Amy Bryant and Assistant Coach Meredith
Vincent were named the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year.
Emory had a trio of freshmen named to the All-UAA first team for
singles play, as Tshema Nash was placed in the
second singles spot, Sabra Rogers in the
third-singles role, and Kirsten Hillock for the
fourth-singles. In addition, sophomore Jenny
Moscato earned her first All-Conference honors, being
named to the sixth-singles spot on the first team.
A fourth freshman, Allison Fick earned a spot on
the All-UAA second team for her performance in the fifth-singles
spot.
The doubles pair of Moscato and Hillock received first team All-UAA
honors for their play in the third-doubles position, while Nash and
Fick were named the second doubles team on the All-UAA second
squad.
This year also marks the sixth time in eight seasons that an Emory
coaching staff led by Amy Bryant has taken home the UAA Coaching
Staff of the Year honors. Meredith Vincent shares in the
award during her first season with the team.
The Eagles swept through the UAA Tournament, winning three matches
to claim the conference title. Emory will be back in action
this weekend, as the team will participate in the first, second and
third rounds of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
EMORY UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S TENNIS WINS 20th-CONSECUTIVE
UAA TITLE

(Apr. 22) The ninth-ranked Emory University Women's Tennis Team
will continue its reign atop the University Athletic Association
(UAA), as the Eagles defeated the 18th-ranked Carnegie Mellon
University (Pa.) 6-3 in the Association's championship match.
The win gives the Eagles' their 20th-consecutive UAA title, as
Emory has won the UAA championship each year since the first
tournament in 1988.
Emory received wins from freshmen Tshema Nash,
Sabra Rogers, Kirsten Hillock and
sophomore Jenny Moscato in singles play, while
Nash and Allison Fick, and Hillock and Moscato
combined for wins in doubles play. Each of the Eagles'
singles wins came in straight sets, as just one of Emory's 16
singles wins during the three-day tournament took a tiebreaker
set.
The win gives Emory a clean-sweep of the UAA tournament, as the
Eagles defeated Carnegie Mellon in the title match for the
second-consecutive year. En route to the championship, Emory
dropped just two singles and two doubles matches, outscoring their
opponents 23-4 during the tournament.
The victory raised Emory's record to 13-8, as the Eagles will now
turn their attention towards winning their fifth-consecutive
National Championship. The first round of the tournament will
begin on May 4th.
NINTH-RANKED EMORY WOMEN'S TENNIS ADVANCES TO UAA
FINALS

(Apr. 21) Emory will have a chance at its 20th-consecutive
University Athletic Association Championship on Sunday, as the
top-seeded Eagles defeated the fifth-seed New York University 8-1
on Saturday.
After taking two of the three doubles matches, Emory swept their
singles matches for the second-consecutive day at the
tournament. The Eagles took five of the six singles matches
in straight sets, and their only doubles loss was decided by an 8-6
tie-breaker set. The Eagles have outscored their opponents
17-1 during their first two matches of the UAA Championships.
The win brings Emory's season record to 12-8, while NYU, ranked
13th in the Northeast Region, drops to 10-6.
The UAA Championship match will pit the top-two seeds of the
tournament against each other, as the Eagles will take on Carnegie
Mellon University (Pa.) at 9:00 AM tomorrow. Emory defeated
Carnegie Mellon in the championship match last season, winning 7-2
over the Tartans.
NINTH-RANKED WOMEN'S TENNIS SHUTS OUT CASE WESTERN IN
THE FIRST ROUND OF THE UAA TOURNAMENT

Tournament, upending the host institution, Case Western Reserve
University (Ohio), 9-0.
The Eagles shut down the Spartans, winning each of their singles
matches in straight sets. The win raises Emory's season
record to 11-8, while Case Western falls to 3-11 with the loss.
The win allows the top-seeded Emory to advance to the second round,
where they will face the fifth-seed New York University, who upset
number four Washington University 7-2 on Friday. NYU is
ranked 13th in the Northeast Region.
Emory, ranked ninth in the nation, is in search of its
20th-consecutive UAA Championship. The Eagles' second round
match against New York will take place at 12:30 PM.
NO. 9 EMORY WOMEN'S TENNIS ENTERS THE UAA TOURNAMENT AS
THE TOP-SEEDED TEAM
(Apr. 18) The Emory Eagles will begin their quest for the
team's 20th-consecutive University Athletic Association (UAA) title
on Friday, as they will travel to Case Western Reserve University
in Cleveland, OH, to take part in the Association tournament.
Emory has been selected as the top-seeded team out of the
eight-competing institutions. That means that Emory will open
up the tournament with a match against the eighth-seeded host
institution, Case Western. The Eagles defeated the Spartans
9-0 last season, taking all of the singles matches in straight
sets.
The Eagles will enter the tournament as the ninth-ranked team in
the nation and the third-ranked team in the Atlantic South
Region. Emory will head into the match featuring a number of
regionally-ranked individuals, including the third-ranked
Richelle Marasigan, the eighth-ranked
Tshema Nash, the 11th-ranked Sabra
Rogers and the 17th-ranked Kirsten
Hillock. In doubles play, Emory will feature the
top-ranked team in the South of Marasigan and Rogers and the
eighth-ranked team of Nash and Allison Fick.
Emory's biggest challenges will come from the second seeded
Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.) and the third-seeded University of
Chicago (Ill.). Carnegie Mellon is currently ranked
18th in the nation and seventh in the Atlantic South Region,
while featuring the Atlantic South's fifth-ranked singles player in
Amy Staloch and the 20th-ranked singles player in Mona Iyer.
Iyer and Staloch combine to form the region's fourth-ranked doubles
team.
The University of Chicago is ranked 26th in the nation and sixth in
the Central Region, where Chicago boasts the fifth-ranked singles
player in Marissa Lin and the 10th-ranked Vindya Dayananda.
The two compete in doubles together as well, and are the region's
ninth-ranked team.
The UAA Tournament will begin on Friday, April 20th, and continue
through Sunday, April 22nd, when a UAA champion will be
crowned.

Division III Women's Tennis, ninth-ranked Emory University fell 6-3
to fourth-ranked Washington & Lee University (Va.). The
loss drops the Eagles to 10-8, while the Generals improve to 16-1
this season with the win.
Emory's three victories in the match came in the
third-doubles spot, where Jenny Moscato and
Kirsten Hillock teamed to defeat Katie Bouret and
Lauren Caine 8-3, the second-singles role, where Tshema
Nash, ranked eighth in the region, took down sixth-ranked
singles player Katie Tabb 2-6, 7-6 (9-7), 10-5, and in the
fourth-singles position, where 17th-ranked freshman Hillock
defeated 18th-ranked Kelly Will 3-6, 6-4, 6-0.
The wins raise Nash and Hillock's records to 10-6 and 10-8
respectively, while the doubles win brings Moscato and Hillock's
record to 8-5 during the 2007 campaign.
The match marks the final one of the regular season for Emory, but
the Eagles will get little rest before the start of the
postseason. Emory will begin the University Athletic
Association (UAA) Tournament on Friday, April 20th, as competition
for the Association title will continue through Sunday, April 22nd.
EAGLES TO FACE WASHINGTON & LEE IN REGULAR-SEASON

(Apr. 17) The Emory Women's Tennis team, ranked ninth in
the nation, will face off against the fourth-ranked Washington
& Lee University (Va.) in the team's final game of the regular
season on Tuesday at the Woodruff P.E. Center.
The match, slated to start at 3:00 PM, will pit two of the
top three teams in the Atlantic South Region, as the Eagles will
enter the match ranked third in the region, while the Generals are
ranked first. Emory holds a 5-4 record against ranked
opponents this season, and a 10-7 record overall. Washington
& Lee is 15-1 this season, and 4-1 against nationally ranked
opponents.
The match will also feature some of the top individual
players in the region. Emory boasts the third-ranked
Richelle Marasigan, the eighth-ranked
Tshema Nash, the 11th-ranked Sabra
Rogers and the 17th-ranked Kirsten
Hillock, while Washington & Lee features the
second-ranked Emily Applegate, the sixth-ranked Katie Tabb, the
10th-ranked Ginny Wortham, and the 18th-ranked Kelly Will.
In doubles play, Emory will feature the top-ranked team of
Marasigan and Rogers and the eighth-ranked team of Nash and
Allison Fick, while the Generals will try to match
the Eagles with the seventh-ranked combination of Kristen McClung

After today's match, the Eagles will begin their postseason, as
they will travel to Cleveland, OH to compete in the University

(Apr. 11) The Emory University Women's Tennis team, ranked second
in the nation, split its two matches this week, losing to the
University of the South (Tenn.) on 5-4 on Tuesday, but defeating
Berry College (Ga.) 6-3 on Wednesday.
Tuesday's match against the University of the South marked a
meeting between the two top-ranked teams in the Atlantic South
Region. The Eagles got off to a quick start, with wins in
first and second doubles, including an 8-0 shutout win for
Richelle Marasigan and Sabra
Rogers. Emory, however, was outplayed by the
sixth-ranked team in the nation in the singles matches.
Emory's two wins in singles play came from Rogers in the third slot
(6-0, 7-5) and Kirsten Hillock in the
fourth-singles position (6-3, 7-5). Sewanee improved to 14-0
with the win, while the Eagles dropped to 9-7 with the loss.
The Eagles bounced back on Wednesday in the 6-3 win over Berry, who
was competing with only five players. Emory and Berry split
the two doubles matches played, with Marasigan and Rogers winning
for the second time in as many days. In singles play, Rogers,
Hillock and Alexandra Maravich each picked up
victories for the Eagles in the third, fourth and fifth singles
spots, respectively. Since Berry was only competing with five
players, a singles and doubles match were each forfeited to
Emory.
With the 1-1 week, the Eagles will carry a 10-7 record into the
team's final regular-season match of the 2007 campaign, as the
Eagles will welcome Washington and Lee University (Va.) to the
Woodruff P.E. Center on April 17th at 3:00 PM.

MATCHES
(Apr. 10) The Emory University Women's Tennis Team will head into
the final stretch of its 2007 season, as the Eagles will play two
of their final three regular-season matches this weekend at the
Woodruff P.E. Center. Emory will take on the University of
South (Tenn.) on Tuesday, and Berry College (Ga.).
Emory will enter the week with a 9-6 record overall in 2007, and a
5-3 record against ranked Division III teams. The Eagles are
currently ranked second nationally in Division III Women's Tennis,
and are the top-ranked team in the Atlantic South Region.
Leading players for Emory this season include Jenny
Moscato, who is 12-2 in singles play and has won
11-consecutive matches, and freshmen Tshema Nash
and Sabra Rogers, who respectively hold 9-4 and
11-3 records in singles play this year.
The University of the South holds a 13-0 record entering its match
with Emory, and is ranked sixth nationally and second in the
Atlantic South Region. In 2006, the two teams met twice, with
Sewanee taking the first match by a 5-4 score over Emory, but the
Eagles got their revenge in the NCAA Regional Tournament, defeating
the Tigers 5-1.
The Berry College Lady Vikings will enter the match with a 12-6
record. Berry competes in the National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and will be playing its final
match of the 2007 regular season against Emory.
Following Emory's two matches this week, the Eagles will have one regular-season match left before the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship Tournament begins on April 20th in Cleveland, OH.

(Apr. 2) The Emory University Women's Tennis team finished its trip
to San Antonio, TX with a 1-2 record in three matches at the Fab 5
Tournament, hosted by Trinity University (Tex.). The Eagles
defeated Trinity, but suffered losses to Williams College (Mass.)
and Gustavus Adolphus College(Minn.).
The Eagles were defeated by Williams, ranked fifth in the nation,
6-1 in Emory's opening match of the tournament. The Eagles'
lone win in the rain-shortened match came out of the first-singles
spot, where Richelle Marasigan defeated her
counterpart 6-0, 6-0.
Emory bounced back the following day with a victory, claiming a 5-4
win over #19 Trinity. The Eagles won all three of their
doubles matches, and received singles victories from Tshema
Nash and Sabra Rogers in the two and
three singles spots respectively.
Emory concluded the tournament with a 6-3 loss to the 12th-ranked
Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.). All of Emory's three wins
during the match came in singles play, where Nash, Rogers and
Jenny Moscato each picked up victories.
With the 1-2 performance at the tournament, the Eagles fall to 9-6
this season, and to 5-3 against ranked, Division III
opponents. Emory will wrap up its regular season schedule
with three home matches, beginning on April 10th against the
University of the South (Tenn.).
TOP-RANKED WOMEN'S TENNIS TO COMPETE AT THE FAB 5 TOURNAMENT
(Mar. 30) The Emory University Women's Tennis Team, ranked first in Division III, will play in three matches this weekend at the Fab 5 Tournament in San Antonio, Tex. The tournament, hosted by Trinity University (Tex.), will allow a number of the top teams in Division III Women's Tennis to face off against each other during the weekend.
The Eagles will begin the weekend with an 8-4 record in 2007. Emory has won five-consecutive matches, and is 8-1 this season against Division III opponents. The Eagles have won each of their last four matches against ranked opponents, and are 4-1 this season against teams ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Emory will open the tournament on Friday, March 30th against Williams College (Mass.), the seventh-ranked team in the nation. The two teams met at the Fab 5 Tournament last season, resulting in the Eagles besting the Ephs 7-2. Williams will enter the match with an 9-1 record this season.
On Saturday, Emory will take on the host school, fifth-ranked Trinity University. The teams split two matches last year, with the Eagles losing 7-2 to the Tigers in the Fab 5 Tournament, but getting their revenge with a 5-1 win over Trinity in the NCAA Tournament Semifinals. Trinity stands at 8-9 during the 2007 season, and has lost four times in its last five matches.
Emory will conclude the tournament on Sunday against Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.), ranked 12th in Division III. The Eagles and the Gusties met in the NCAA National Quarterfinals last season, as the Eagles came away with a 5-1 victory. Gustavus Adolphus will enter the weekend with a 10-3 record during the 2007 campaign.

the nation, defeated the second-ranked team, DePauw University
(Ind.) 5-4 at the Woodruff P.E. Center on Saturday. The win
is the fifth-consecutive for the Eagles, and the fourth of the
season against a ranked team.
Sophomore Jenny Moscato and freshman
Kirsten Hillock both won their singles and doubles
matches, while freshmen Tshema Nash and
Sabra Rogers picked up singles victories out of
the second and fifth positions respectively.
Four of Emory's past five victories have come against ranked
opponents. The Eagles have also defeated the fourth-ranked
Claremont Mudd-Scripps College (Calif.), sixth-ranked Amherst
College (Mass.) and 16th-ranked University of Redlands
(Calif.).
With the win, Emory improves to 8-4 overall this season, and to 8-1
against Division III opponents. The Eagles will be back in
action next weekend, as they travel to San Antonio, TX for the Fab
5 Tournament. Emory will kick off tournament play on Friday
against Williams College (Mass.) at 12:00 PM.
TOP-RANKED WOMEN'S TENNIS TO BATTLE SECOND-RANKED DEPAUW
(Mar. 23) The Woodruff Physical Education Center will play host to a battle between the two top-ranked teams in NCAA Division III Women's Tennis, as Emory University, ranked first in the Nation, will match up against DePauw University (Ind.), ranked second. Emory will enter the match with a 7-4 record in 2007, including a 3-1 mark against Nationally-ranked teams, while DePauw will come to Atlanta at a perfect 9-0.
The Eagles defeated the Tigers in 2006 by a score of 5-4 in Atlanta. Senior Richelle Marasigan picked up a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the match out of the second-singles spot, and Emory won two of the three doubles matches.
Emory will enter the match as winners of four-straight matches, and six of its last seven. The teams will begin their match at 1:00 PM at the Woodruff P.E. Center.
EMORY WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM TOPS NO. 6

(Mar. 18) -- The No. 1-ranked Emory University women's
tennis team closed out its spring trip on a positive note Sunday
afternoon, registering a 6-3 win over No. 6-ranked Amherst. The win
was the fourth straight for the Eagles and raised their dual-match
mark to 7-4.
Emory captured two of the three doubles points highlighted by
Allison Fick and Tshema Nash posting a 9-8 (4) decision over Monica
Snyder and Katie Hudson at No. 2. The Eagles continued their
steady play taking four of six singles matches. Senior
Richelle Marasigan earned an intense decision against Brittany
Berckes, 6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-5, at the No. 1 position. Nash
chalked up a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Snyder at No. 2 while Kirsten
Hillock and Jenny Moscato brought home other wins in singles.

EMORY WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM TRIUMPHS OVER REDLANDS
(Mar. 18) -- The No. 1-ranked Emory University women's
tennis team picked up its third straight win Saturday afternoon
with a decisive 7-2 triumph at the No. 16-ranked University of
Redlands. The victory boosted the Eagles' dual-match mark to
6-4 while the Bulldogs slipped to 5-4.
Emory was dominant in doubles play, capturing all three
points. Leading the way was the team of senior Richelle
Marasigan and freshman Sabra Rogers at the No. 1 position with an
8-5 win over the Redlands duo of Paige Sumida and Whitney Waters,
8-5.
In singles action, the Eagles claimed wins in four matches.
Freshman Tshema Nash topped the Cougars' Kaleena Wakamatsu, 6-1,
6-2, at the No. 2 slot, raising her mark to 5-3 this spring.
Freshman Kirsten Hillock came away with a 7-5, 6-1 decision over
Tori Damiani-Paulk at No. 4 the position. Sophomore Jenny

EMORY WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM DEFEATS VASSAR COLLEGE
(Mar. 14) - The No. 1-ranked Emory University women's
tennis team picked up its second win in three outings on its spring
trip Tuesday afternoon with a 6-3 win over Vassar College.
The match was played at Claremont College (CA). The victory
boosted the Eagles' dual-match mark to 5-4 while Vassar slipped to
1-2.
Emory recorded four of the six singles points, highlighted by
freshman Tshema Nash's 6-3, 6-3 win over Kelly Graham at the
No. 2 slot, boosting her spring record to 4-3. Freshmen
Kirsten Hillock and Sabra Rogers registered wins at No. 4 and 5
singles, respectively, while sophomore Jenny Moscato saw her spring
dual-match record improve to 7-2 following a hard-fought 6-1,
6-7(4), 6-4 triumph over Alexis Jacobson.
Rogers and senior Richelle Marasigan teamed at No. 1 doubles to
post an 8-6 win against Debbie Sharnak and Kelly Graham.

The No. 1-ranked Emory University women's tennis team
turned in an impressive effort today and came away with a 7-2 win
over No. 4-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College. The win
upped the Eagles' mark to 4-4 while the Athenas slipped to 8-3.
Emory recorded five of the six singles points, highlighted by
senior Richelle Marasigan's 7-6 (4), 6-2 win over Yasmin Entekhabi
at the No. 1 slot. Freshman Tshema Nash evened her spring
record to 3-3 with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2 over Lisa

(Mar. 12) - The No. 1-ranked Emory University women's
tennis team started off its spring trip with a 6-3 loss to No. 10
Pomona College in Claremont, Calif., on Sunday. The loss left
the Eagles' dual-match record at 3-4 while the Sagehens upped their
spring record to 6-1.
Sophomore Jenny Moscato picked up Emory's lone point in singles
play as she topped Pomona's Anne Yoshizawa, 6-3, 6-2, at the No. 6
spot. The win boosted Moscato's spring dual mark to 5-2.
Emory captured two of the three points in doubles action.

(Mar. 5) The Emory University Women's Tennis Team, ranked first in
Division III, turned in a 2-1 record over the course of three
matches this past weekend.
Emory's two wins came on Sunday, when the Eagles defeated both
Huntingdon College (Ala.) and Methodist College (N.C.). Emory
began the day by winning each of its singles and doubles matches,
defeating Huntingdon 9-0. The Eagles concluded a successful
day by picking up an 8-1 victory over Methodist.
Emory's loss came against Auburn University Montgomery, the
defending NAIA Champions. The Eagles suffered a 6-3 defeat on
the road to the Senators.
Emory improved to 3-3 with the two wins during the weekend.
The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday, when they will begin
their California trip by taking on Pomona College in Clairemont,
CA.
NO. 1 WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO DIVISION II CLAYTON

(Mar. 1) The top-ranked Emory Women's Tennis team dropped its
second straight match, losing 6-3 to local Division II opponent
Clayton State University (Ga.).
Sabra Rogers was the lone Eagle to register an
individual win, picking up a 6-2, 7-6 victory in the number five
singles spot. In doubles play, number two doubles team
Kirsten Hillock and Tshema Nash
won 9-8, while Allison Fick and Jenny
Moscato teamed up in the third doubles spot for a 8-4
victory.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 1-2 during the 2007
campaign. Emory will return to the court Saturday, traveling
to Montgomery, AL, to match-up against Auburn University

TOP-RANKED WOMEN'S TENNIS TO COMPETE IN FOUR
MATCHES
(Feb. 27) The Emory University Women's Tennis team, ranked first in
the nation, will compete in four matches this weekend, including
hosting two at the Woodruff P.E. Center against Huntingdon College
(Ala.) and Methodist College (N.C.).
Emory will open its week on the road against local Division II
School Clayton State College (Ga.), playing in Morrow, Ga. at 2:30
PM on February 28th. The Eagles defeated the Lakers 7-2 at
the Woodruff P.E. Center last season. Clayton State will
enter the game with 2-1 record in 2007.
On Saturday, March 3rd, the Eagles will travel to Montgomery, Ala.,
to take on the University of Auburn-Montgomery, the two-time
defending NAIA Champions. Auburn-Montgomery has opened its
2007 season with a 5-0 record. Emory lost to the Senators 9-0
at home last season.
Emory will return home on Sunday, to host Huntingdon at 10:00 AM
and Methodist at 2:00 PM. Huntingdon has opened the season
with a 3-2 record, while Methodist has begun the campaign 2-1.
The Eagles, who hold a 1-1 record after their first week of
competition, will look to bounce back after the first loss of the
season to Division I opponent Georgia State last week.
NO. 1 WOMENS TENNIS TEAM DROPS HOME OPENER TO GEORGIA
STATE
(Feb. 22) Emory University's top-ranked Women's Tennis team lost
its first home match of the 2007 season, suffering an 8-1 defeat to
Georgia State University.
Emory's lone win over the Division I team came from their top
doubles team of Richelle Marasigan and
Sabra Rogers, who defeated Rachel Malina and Emma
Stahl-Johansson of Georgia State and improved to 2-0 in doubles
play this season.
With the loss, the Eagles drop to 1-1 in dual matches this season. Emory will return to the court this Wednesday, when the team will travel to Morrow, Ga. To take on Clayton State University.
TOP-RANKED EMORY WOMENS TENNIS WINS OPENING
MATCH
(Feb. 22) The Emory University Women's Tennis team began its quest
for a fifth-consecutive national title on Thursday, defeating
Shorter College (Ga.) by a score of 6-3.
The Eagles win came off of the strength of their doubles teams,
which won all three matches. Emory also picked up wins from
its four, five and six singles.
Emory, ranked first in the nation, improved to 1-0 this
season. The Eagles will return to the court on Friday,
February 23rd, when they will take on Georgia State University in
their first home match of the season. The match is set to
begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Woodruff P.E. Center.

NO. 1-RANKED EMORY WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM OPENS SPRING SEASON ON THE ROAD
(Feb. 19) The No. 1-ranked Emory University women's tennis team
opens the spring season on Tuesday, February 20th, when it plays at
Shorter College. The Eagles' opener will be held at the Walt
Attaway Tennis Complex and begin at 2:30 p.m.
While Emory will be playing its first match of the spring, the
Hawks will entertain the Eagles with a 2-2 record. After
winning their first two matches of the season by 9-0 scores against
Reinhardt College and Emmanuel College, Shorter has dropped its
last two outings including a 9-0 setback to Georgia College and
State on Sunday.
Emory will have a young squad with four freshmen competing in
singles play. Senior Richelle Marasigan will hold down the No. 1
singles post and is coming off a productive fall which saw her
claim the ITA Regional title while advancing to the semifinals of
the Small College National Championships.
Freshman Tshema Nash is slated to play at No. 2 singles while
classmate Kirsten Hillock will play at No. 3. Rookies Allison
Fick and Sabra Rogers will see action at No. 4 and 5 singles,
respectively, while sophomore Jenny Moscato rounds out the singles
competitors.
"We are excited to start the season and I'm eager to see how our
freshmen play," Bryant said. "They are a talented group and I
look forward to see how they stack up."
Following Tuesday's match, Emory makes its home debut on Friday (Feb. 23) when it plays host to NCAA Division I foe Georgia State starting at 4:00 p.m.
EMORY WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM RANKED #1 IN THE NATION
(Nov. 29) The Emory University Women's Tennis Team, winner of four-consecutive NCAA Division III championships, has been ranked the top team in the nation, according to the fall edition of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division III national rankings. This is the fifth-consecutive year that the Eagles have been the top-ranked team in the fall ITA poll.
Emory featured seven individual players ranked in the top-30 in the Atlantic South Region, more than any other team in the region. Returning all-Americans Richelle Marasigan, Linda Tien, and Indu Anand are ranked third, fourth and 14th respectively, newcomers Kirsten Hillock, Sabra Rogers and Allison Fick are ranked 12th, 23rd, and 25th, and junior Christine Ingoldsby is ranked 30th.
The Eagles have three doubles teams ranked in the top ten in the Atlantic South Region, and six in the top 25. Emory's highest-ranked doubles team of Tien and Marasigan is ranked fourth in the region.
Emory will begin its quest for its fifth consecutive national championship on February 20th, 2007, as the Eagles will travel to Shorter College (Ga.) for its first match of the season.

EMORY TENNIS TEAMS SEND TRIO TO ITA SMALL COLLEGE NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIPS
(Oct. 10) -- Emory University will have three
representatives competing this week at the 2006 Intercollegiate
Tennis Association (ITA) National Small College
Championships. Action takes place Thursday through Sunday
(Oct. 12-15) and will be held at Florida Gulf Coast University in
Fort Myers.
Sophomore Michel Goodwin (Rockville, MD) has drawn the No. 1 seed in the men's singles competition while senior Richelle Marasigan (Stockton, CA) will be competing in the women's singles competition. Goodwin will team with sophomore Michael Kaufman (Farmington Hills, MI) and compete in doubles play as the No. 2 seed.
Goodwin's first opponent will be Mikhail Guervich of New York University. The winner of that match will advance into Friday's semifinals. Marasigan's first foe will be Siobhan Finicane of Pamona College. In doubles, Goodwin and Kaufman take on the Gustavus Adolphus tandem of Mike Burdakin and Charlie Paukert.
This event is presented by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and administered by the ITA. It dates back to 1986 and determines national champions for NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community College men's and women's singles and doubles during the first two-and-a-half days of play. Those champions then compete to become the overall national small college champs (for all divisions) on Oct. 14-15 in the ITA "Super Bowl" of Small College Tennis.
Each small college division features eight singles players and eight doubles teams who earned spots into this national event by winning their respective Wilson/ITA Regional Championships held over the past three weeks throughout the country.
Goodwin advanced to this event following a win over teammate Mark Boren in the finals of the ITA Southern Championships while Marasigan earned her way following a win over teammate Linda Tien in the finals of the women's championshis. Goodwin and Kaufman defeated Boren and David Caplan in the doubles championship match of the Southern Championships.

(Oct. 3) -- Emory University senior Richelle
Marasigan (Stockton, CA) has been named the University
Athletic Association Women's Tennis Player of the Week following
her performance at the ITA Small College Regional Championships
this past weekend.
Richelle Marasigan captured the singles title while advancing to
the doubles championship. Marasigan, who entered the weekend
as the No. 2 seed, won four matches en route to the singles crown,
defeating Laura Fanjoy of Sewanee in the semifinals, 6-2, 6-2,
before rallying against teammate Linda Tien in the championship
match, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1. In doubles action, Marasigan joined
forces with Tien to advance to the championship match.

Marasigan, who entered the competition as the No. 2 seed, rallied
to defeat teammate Linda Tien (Tampa, FL), 3-6,
6-1, 6-1, to earn a berth at the ITA Small College National
Championships, Oct. 12-15, in Fort Myers, Florida.
Marasigan opened play on Sunday by defeating No. 5 seed Laura
Fanjoy of Sewanee, 6-2, 6-2 in the semis while Tien, the No. 4
seed, earned a spot in the finals after upending No. 1 seed
Gabriela Carvalho of Sewanee, 6-2, 6-4.

singles draw in the ITA Region Tennis competition. In doubles
action, Tien and Marasigan, the No. 1 seed, advanced to the
finals. The event is being held at the John Guerry Tennis
Pavilion and Willett Stadium at the University of the South.
Marasigan opened Saturday's action by defeating teammate Jenny
Moscato, 6-3, 6-3, before topping Molly Willet of Sewanee, 1-6,
6-1, 6-3. Marasigan will face Laura Fanjoy of Sewanee in the
semifinals on Sunday.
Tien, a junior who entered the competition as the No. 4 seed,
rallied to get the better of classmate Cristina Arellano (Budapest,
Hungary), 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Tien then earned her spot in the
semifinals following a decisive 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Carrie
Pacifico of Greensboro College. Tien's opponent on Sunday
will be No. 1-seeded Gabriela Carvalho of Sewanee.

Ingoldsby will have a stiff challenge on Saturday when she tangles with No. 1 seeded Gabriela Carvaalho of Sewanee. Freshmen Allison Fick (Palm Beach, FL) and Sabra Rogers (Charleston, SC) each went 2-0 on the day with Fick besting Noyah Ochoa of Spelman (6-0, 6-1) and Nicole Weldon of Huntingdon (6-1, 6-0), while Rogers manufactured wins over Shannon Vivan of Methodist (6-1, 6-1) and Stacy Thomas of Rhodes (6-1, 6-4).
The tandem of Tien and Marasigan, the No.1 seed in doubles, skated by Rhodes' offering of Willard and Raffensberger, 8-1, setting the stage for a Saturday meeting against Lauren Willett and Viney from Sewanee. Other Emory doubles teams advancing into Saturday's action include Nash and Arellano, Hillock and sophomore Jenny Moscato, Anand and Rogers (the No. 3 seed) and Fick and senior Amanda Dechert.
EMORY WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM TO COMPETE AT ITA SOUTH ATLANTIC REGION
CHAMPIONSHIP
(Sept. 27) Emory University has four individuals seeded in the top eight of the singles draw and three of the top four seeded teams in the doubles draw at the 2006 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional championships. The tournament will be held from September 29-October 1 at the University of the South (Tenn.).
Richelle Marasigan is the top seeded Emory player, ranked second heading into the tournament. The all-American was seeded second at last year's ITA regional tournament, and advanced to the championship match before losing to teammate Serena Burkard.
Eagles' freshman Kirsten Hillock begins her first collegiate tournament as the third seed. Also seeded for Emory are returning all-Americans Linda Tien at No. 4, and Inud Anand at No. 8.
In doubles play, Tien and Marasigan will team up as the No. 1 doubles seed entering the region championship. Tien, along with Samantha Shapiro combined last year to win the region doubles championship. Other seeded Emory teams are No. 3 seed Anand and freshman Sabra Rogers and No. 4 seed Tshema Nash and Shapiro.
"This is a great opportunity for us as coaches to see how new players compete as collegiate players, and for the team to get a chance to play together," said Emory head coach Amy Bryant, who helped the Eagles to their fourth-consecutive NCAA Division III national championship in 2006. "However, we focus on improving, because our ultimate goal is to play our best tennis come May."
EMORY UNIVERSITY TENNIS COURTS UNDERGOING RENOVATIONS
In what could be best described as its answer to the ABC hit series, ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition', the Emory University tennis courts are undergoing a major transformation this fall. And while Emory students, faculty and staff aren't likely to see Ty Pennington and his cast of designers demolishing before delivering a wonderful new residence in a week's time to some family, the work being done on the university's outdoor courts will have just as a dramatic and positive impact for the school's tennis teams as well as others who utilize the facility.
In a project that started August 15, the tennis courts are in the process of being totally resurfaced while seeing all new fencing and windscreens put in place. Slated for an October 22 completion date, the construction is Phase I of an ambitious plan that includes stadium seating in the future. The work currently being done is being funded by the University as part of a maintenance plan. The courts originally opened in 1983 and though been patched at various times, there has never been a resurfacing until now.
In a process called "full-depth reclamation," the courts will be dug up and then pulverized into smaller particles. That material will be used as a sub-surface base on which to pour the actual court materials. The new surface will be the popular and environmentally friendly "Plexi-Cushion", the same surface that comprises the indoor courts at the Woodruff PE Center.
Another upgrade will have all six courts on the same level and inside one fence. Currently, there is about an eight-inch difference in the levels of the courts which reside inside two fences. In addition, all new fencing and windscreens will be put in place that will incorporate the Emory logo.
"Phase I, with the new court surface and other improvements, combined with the future plans for the facility, will definitely be an upgrade for the tennis programs and Rec Center members," states Myra Sims, Emory's Associate Athletic Director for facilities. "The caliber of the women's and men's tennis teams makes this a much-needed and important initiative.
"And once this is done, the planning and fund-raising to have
fixed seating in a stadium type of setting will be underway.
Our goal is to have a great complex for our student-athletes to
compete in and a great venue for fans to watch from."
EMORY WOMEN'S TENNIS NAMES MEREDITH VINCENT ASSISTANT
COACH
(Aug. 25) - Emory University head women's tennis coach Amy Bryant
has announced that Meredith Vincent has joined the program as an
assistant coach.
Vincent, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, played collegiately for four
years, two at Virginia Tech (2001-02 & 2002-03) and a pair of
seasons at Ohio State (2003-04 & 2004-05). In her final
year as a Buckeye, Vincent played primarily No. 3 & No. 4
singles and was a No. 1 doubles player. She earned her bachelor's
degree in psychology from OSU in 2005.
"Meredith is going to be a great asset to the Emory program," said
Bryant, who has guided the Eagles to four consecutive NCAA Division
III championships. "Typically, it is difficult to find
someone who understands the delicate balance we have here at Emory
with an outstanding tennis program and a great education.
But, from the onset, Meredith expressed a genuine interest and
excitement to work with our extremely talented student-athletes."
Vincent has served as both the Tennis Pro at the Hyde Park Tennis Club in Cincinnati and the Teaching Professional at the Hyde Park Tennis Club. In addition, she has been an instructor at tennis camps and clinics at the College of Wooster, Denison University and Virginia Tech.
"On the court, Meredith is a great player in her own right," Bryant added. "At Ohio State she was a doubles specialist and we're looking forward to using her expertise to continue to focus and develop that aspect of Emory's team game."
