Emory Defeats Rochester; Will Face #3 Chicago for UAA Women’s Tennis Championship

The Emory University women’s tennis team, ranked fourth in the nation, advanced to the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Tennis Championship match with a 6-0 win over the University of Rochester.  The Eagles will face third-ranked Chicago in for the conference championship on Sunday.

The top-seeded Eagles were perfect for the second-straight match, handing fifth-seeded Rochester three defeats in the doubles matches. 

In singles play, Emory picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win in the first singles match from Zahra Dawson, a 6-0, 6-1 win from Jordan Wylie in the third singles match, and a 6-0, 6-0 win from Tshema Nash in the fourth-singles contest.  The other three singles matches were left unfinished, after Emory clinched the victory.

With the win, Emory improved to 16-4.  It was also the Eagles second victory this season over Rochester.

Emory will face the University of Chicago tomorrow at 9:00 AM, as the Eagles will look for their 23rd-consecutive UAA Championship.
