In a battle of two of the top three teams in Division III, the
second-ranked Emory University women’s tennis team fell short
against third-ranked Williams College, losing 6-3 in the final
match of the Fab 5 Tournament.
After dropping all three of the doubles matches, the Eagles and the
Ephs played a number of tight singles matches, as each of the first
three singles contests went into a third set. However,
Williams was able to pull victories out in each of the third sets
to clinch a team victory.
Emory received straight-set victories from Lindsay
Reidenbach in the fourth singles match, Tshema
Nash in the fifth singles match, and Sara
Vrabec in the sixth singles match, but it would not be
enough to spark an Eagles comeback.
With the victory, Nash raised her team-leading singles win total to
18 (with an 18-2 overall record), while Vrabec improved to 16-1 and
Reidenbach to 15-5.
After entering the weekend without a loss to a Division III squad
this season, the Eagles have now dropped two straight to teams
ranked in the top six in Division III. Emory fell to 14-4
overall on the year, while Williams improved to 7-1.
Emory’s next match will be on Saturday, April
10th, as Emory will travel to Berry College for a 1:00
PM match against the Lady Vikings.
