Emory University junior Beatrice Rosen won the singles draw of the USTA/ ITA South Regional Championships last weekend.  Rosen, who entered the draw as the fourth-seeded player, finished singles play with a 5-0 record, including a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 win over fifth-seeded teammate Katarina Su in the championship match.  She also claimed victories over two other seeded opponents during the weekend, defeating seventh-seeded teammate Anna Fuhr 6-4, 6-3 in the quarterfinals and eighth-seeded teammate Bridget Harding 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinals.  It marked the 13th-consecutive year and 16th time overall that an Emory player has won the USTA/ ITA South Region Singles Championship.  Rosen also reached the finals of doubles draw with teammate Michelle DeMeo, earning wins over a pair of ranked opponents along the way – an 8-3 victory over fourth-seeded Deena Kam Li Wa and Ashley Ford of Millsaps in the quarterfinals, and an 8-3 win over teammates and top-seeded Michelle Satterfield and Harding in the semifinals – and finishing the tournament with a 4-1 doubles record.  Rosen will advance to the singles draw of the USTA/ ITA Small College Nationals in Palmetto, South Carolina from October 9th – 12th.
