Emory Women's Tennis Falls at Home to Coastal Carolina, 6-1

The No.-2 ranked Emory University Women's Tennis team was defeated by Coastal Carolina, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon with the match being played indoors at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta.

Senior Bridget Harding and freshman Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico moved to 2-0 in doubles to start the spring, recording an 8-3 triumph over Somer Dalla-Bona and Sara Bondar on court one. However, the Chanticleers earned the doubles point with the match being played under Division I rules as CCU blanked junior Daniela Lopez and freshman Defne Olcay, 8-0, at third doubles before edging senior Anna Fuhr and freshman Stephanie Taylor, 8-4, at second doubles.

In singles competition, Gonzalez-Rico battled Dalla-Bona at second singles to pick up the 6-4, 7-6 (5) decision for Emory's solo point in the match. At fourth singles, Taylor bested Bondar, 6-4, in the first set before falling by identical 6-1 margins in the second and third sets. Coastal Carolina rounded out the scoring, registering straight set wins in the remaining singles matches.
