Women's Tennis Lands 30 on UAA 30th Anniversary Team

The Emory University Women's Tennis program placed 30 current and former student-athletes on the University Athletic Association 30th Anniversary team which was announced by the league office Wednesday morning. A total of 43 student-athletes were selected from seven of the association schools.

The team consists of each student-athlete who was named Most Valuable Player or accumulated five or more points with two points awarded for All-Association first-team singles recognition, and one point for second-team singles honors in her career. Players who captured the top-flight singles title in years preceding the designation of a Most Valuable Player (1989-93) were also named to the team.

Among those honored was Mary Ellen Gordon, who was named Most Valuable Player four consecutive times from 2001-04 and captured back-to-back NCAA Division III individual titles in 2003 and 2004. Gabrielle Clark was named to the All-Association first team all four years and earned UAA Most Valuable Player honors three times (2011, 2013-14) and was a two-time NCAA singles champion in 2012 and 2014.

Jessica Levy added multiple MVP awards during her career as she won the honor in back-to-back seasons in 1994 and 1995.

Three other Eagles MVPs joined Gordon and Clark as four-time All-Association selections, including Head Coach Amy Bryant who accomplished the feat from 1993-96 and added MVP acclaim in 1996. Julie Sterner, the league's MVP in 2000, received All-Association honors each year from 1997-2000, while the 2005 MVP, Carina Alberelli, garnered All-Association accolades from 2002-05.

Other Emory four-year honorees include Jill Tobin (1989-92), Megan Bern (1994-97), Madison Gordon (2013-16) and Beatrice Rosen (2013-16).

Senior Bridget Harding was the lone current member of the Eagles to earn a berth on the anniversary team as she has garnered All-Association First Team singles honors as a freshman and junior and was named the Most Valuable Player in 2017.

The Eagles also saw Margaret Moscato, Tshema Nash, Jamie Chan, Zahra Dawson, Lindsay Reidenbach, Melissa Goodman, Michelle Satterfield, Tracy Shub, Katarina Su, Mandy Jackson, Nicole Sullivan, Jolyn Taylor, Karen Kirschbom, Erin Terrell, Stefanie Leshaw, Emily Warburg, Shannon McGlame, Alexa Wilensky and Jordan Wylie named to the anniversary team. Jackson was honored on the UAA 30th Anniversary team for women's basketball as well.

Emory has captured 28 of the first 30 UAA Championships including five in a row and has advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship match 12 times in program history including each of the last five seasons, winning seven national titles including most recently in 2016.
