Gonzalez-Rico & Fatemi Highlight Busy Weekend for Emory Women's Tennis

Emory University sophomore Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico and freshman Jessica Fatemi highlight a busy weekend of action for the Emory University Women's Tennis team as the duo is set to take part in the 2018 ITA Cup from Thursday, October 11th through Sunday, October 14th at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, GA. Elsewhere, the Eagles will travel to Statesboro, GA to compete in the Georgia Southern Shootout which runs Friday to Sunday.

At the ITA Cup, Gonzalez-Rico enters the singles draw as the No. 1 overall seed and will face Skidmore College's Risa Fukushige in the opening round at 9:00 AM Thursday morning. Gonzalez-Rico, who finished as the Division III runner-up at the 2017 ITA Cup, earned her spot in the draw by capturing her second straight ITA South regional title last month.

Gonzalez-Rico will also be entered in the doubles competition with Fatemi as the pairing earned the No. 3 seed in the draw after winning the ITA South doubles crown and will oppose the winner of the northwest/southwest play-in match between the Kaffin sisters from Trinity University or Andrea Gu and Mary Hill from Whitman College at 1:30 PM Thursday afternoon.

The winners of the ITA Division III doubles competition will advance to the Oracle Cup bracket, along with winners of the other three divisions (Division II, NAIA, JUCO) to determine the overall 2018 Oracle Cup Champion on Sunday, October 14th. As for the respective singles champion for each division, they will automatically be entered in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 7-11, in Surprise, Arizona.
