Women's Tennis Concludes Play at Georgia Southern Shootout

The Emory University Women's Tennis team wrapped up competition at the Georgia Southern Shootout Sunday afternoon in Statesboro, GA.

In doubles, senior Daniela Lopez and freshman Emma Cartledge won the main draw with a 6-2 win over Georgia State while sophomores Stephanie Taylor and Defne Olcay claimed third place in the third doubles flight with 6-1 victory over a team out of Appalachian State. Sophomore Katie Chang and freshman Lauren Yoon added a win for the Eagles, winning the seventh place match in the second flight, defeating Savannah State 6-3.

In singles, Taylor highlighted the Eagles on the day as she won her third place match in the Freedom draw, taking down Georgia Southern's Lindsay Truscott 6-4, 7-6 (4). Yoon took fifth in the third singles flight as she beat Winthrop's Ellie Burns in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 and sophomore Sasha Hartje triumphed over Savannah State's Christy Turner in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 to win the ERK Round Robin.

Next up for the Eagles will be the Wofford Invitational from November 2nd-4th and will be held in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
