Women's Tennis Celebrates Amy Bryant's 20 Seasons as Head Coach

The Emory University women's tennis team celebrated Amy Bryant's 20 years as the head coach of the program earlier this month.

"We, as a team, recognized and wanted to surprise Amy with a small celebration of her 20th year as a head coach here at Emory" said assistant coach Barbora Krtickova. "Amy is a tremendous coach and more importantly a smart, hard-working, and caring woman who deserves to be celebrated. She has accomplished so much in the past, and I wish her many more fulfilled years in the future."

Bryant has brought the Eagles to unparalleled success among the Division III ranks since assuming the head coach position in 2000. In her 20 seasons, the Eagles have recorded a 396-98 overall record (.802 win percentage) with 18 appearances in the NCAA national quarterfinals, 12 appearances in the NCAA team championship finals including national titles in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2014 and 2016.

Bryant has coached her players to five NCAA Division III Singles Championships (Mary Ellen Gordon in 2003 and 2004, Lorne McManigle in 2009, and Gabrielle Clark in 2012 and 2014) and a doubles pairing to four consecutive NCAA national titles (2001-04).  Her players have won a total of 87 All-America awards and 12 conference Most Valuable Player honors.

In addition, Bryant was selected as the National Division III Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in 2003, and the ITA regional Division III Coach of the Year in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2011 and 2016. She and her assistants have been honored 13 times as the conference Coaching Staff of the Year by the University Athletic Association, most recently in 2018.

Currently, the Eagles have compiled an overall record of 14-3, including a 13-1 record against Division III opponents, the No.-1 team ranking in the ITA national poll and will be in search of the team's seventh straight UAA championship, 30th overall, next week in Altamonte Springs, FL.
