Women's Tennis Wraps Up Play at ITA Cup

The Emory University women's tennis team concluded play at the ITA Cup on Friday at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, GA.

In doubles competition, junior Defne Olcay and Emma Cartledge dropped their quarterfinal round match to Wesleyan's Kristina Yu and Sophia Henderson 6-4, 6-3 before rebounding in three sets in the consolation round against Trinity's Zoe and Mary Kaffen 6-7 (4), 6-4, 10-7.

In the doubles consolation bracket, sophomore Christina Watson and freshman Alexa Goetz advanced past Carleton's Faith Yim and Madeline Prins 3-6, 7-6 (4), 10-8 before falling to Carnegie Mellon's Courtney Ollis and Danna Taylor 6-1, 1-6, 8-10.

In the singles draw, Cartledge dropped a straight sets 6-1, 6-1 decision to CMU's Taylor in the consolation bracket while Goetz earned a straight set 6-3, 6-1 decision in her consolation match against Whitman's Andei Fukushige.

The Eagles will enjoy a four-month hiatus before kicking off the spring season on February 12th against Georgia Gwinnett College.
