The Emory University women's tennis team vies to continue its regional dominance as the ITA South regional championships will take place this weekend in Sewanee, TN. Ten schools and 113 players are set to compete at three different sites with the University of the South serving as the host school.

Eleven Eagles will take part in the main singles draw of 64 with the reigning NCAA singles runner-up senior Christina Watson named the top seed in the tournament. Junior Alexa Goetz and sophomore Ana Cristina Perez join Watson as Eagles among the top-8 seeds with Goetz entering the field as the fourth seed and Perez as the eighth.

In addition to the top-seeded Watson, sophomore Xuanjin Li, junior Stephanie Shulman, senior Emma Cartledge and sophomore Sam Falcon will be in the top half of the bracket. In the second half of the draw, freshman Eliza McPherron, seniors Lauren Yoon, Jessica Fatemi and freshman Arya Dudipala join Perez and Goetz in the field.

For the doubles competition, Emory will have five tandems in the main draw of 31 with the teams of Goetz/Li and Watson/McPherron occupying the top two seeds in the bracket. Perez and Yoon, Shulman and Falcon and Cartledge and Fatemi will be other three Eagles duo competing this weekend.

The Eagles have reigned supreme at the ITA Regional Championships in recent memory with an Emory player capturing the singles title in each of the past 18 tournaments and an Eagles doubles team winning 13 consecutive ITA crowns. Goetz was the most recent singles champion, doing so the last time the ITA South Regional Championships took place in 2019, while Goetz and Watson secured the doubles title during the same year.

Regional winners will advance to the ITA Cup which is scheduled to take place October 14-17 in Rome, GA.
