Sophomore Dani Bland advanced to the 100m Dash Finals to lead the Emory University Women's Track and Field team on day two of the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. The NCAA D-III Outdoor Championships are taking place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Bland posted a time of 12.14 to finish second in heat one during Friday's preliminaries. Her mark ranked as the fifth-fastest time of the 22 performers and now will be one of the nine runners to compete in tomorrow's final. The 100m Dash final is set to begin at 1:30 PM.
Classmate Ariana Newhouse was also in action for the Eagles on Friday, competing in the 400m Dash. Newhouse entered the event in the final qualifying position and finished 13th overall out of 22 competitors during Friday's preliminaries, recording a time of 56.79.
The 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships conclude Saturday with the third and final day of competition. Emory athletes will be taking part in five event finals beginning with the 4x100m Relay at 12:05 PM featuring Bland, Newhouse, sophomore Dilys Osei and junior Julia Leventhal. Action continues on the afternoon with junior Gabrielle Stravach in the 1500m Run (12:25 PM), Bland in both the 100m (1:30 PM) and 200m Dash (2:40 PM) and junior Shane Sullivan in the 5000m Run (3:25 PM).
