Women's Track & Field Open Indoor Season with BSC Icebreaker Meet

The Emory University Women's Track and Field program opened the 2017-18 indoor season on Friday as the Eagles participated in the BSC Icebreaker Meet at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.

Emory registered 11.75 points to place 12th overall at the meet which featured host Birmingham-Southern, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Brenau, Clayton St., Columbus St., Embry-Riddle, Florida A&M, Georgia Tech, Mississippi College, Mississippi Valley, Montevallo, Samford, Tennessee Wesleyan, Troy, Tulane, UAB, UT-Chattanooga and William Carey.

The 4x400m Relay team comprised of seniors Julia Leventhal, Erica Goldman and juniors Dilys Osei and Ariana Newhouse was the leading point scorer for the Eagles on Friday as the group netted four points, coming in fourth overall with a time of 3:58.42.

Goldman and Osei paced the Eagles in two individual events on the afternoon with Goldman taking eighth in the 400m Dash at 58.35 and Osei posted a time of 9.46 to finish 21st. Both times led all Division III performers.

Other scorers for Emory at the meet included sophomore Meredith Hughes in the 3000m Run (9th, 10:38.62), sophomore Ileana Zeissner in the Mile (6th, 5:25.67), junior Paris Wagner in the weight throw (5th, 14.62m) and sophomore Nyla Lindo in the high jump (T-4th, 1.50m).

The Eagles return to the Crossplex on January 14th as Emory is slated to compete in the Alabama Striders Open.
