Women's Track & Field Take Second at Emory Classic

The Emory University Women's Track and Field team continued its strong start to the outdoor season, finishing second at its home classic with 123 points.

Junior Dani Bland and freshman Andi Breitowich earned event wins for the Eagles as did the 4x400m Relay of Bland, junior Dilys Osei, sophomore Kaitlyn Leonard and senior Erica Goldman. Bland improved upon her top-three time in Division III in the 200m Dash, taking first with a time of 24.66. In the pole vault, Breitowich moved into second place individually on the Emory all-time list with a height of 3.50m. And in the 4x400m, the group turned in the fourth fastest time in Emory outdoor history and the fastest time to date nationally at 3:47.35.

In addition to the three event wins, the Eagles added 12 top-four finishes over the two-day meet.

On Friday, freshman Taylor Robinson was second in the javelin at 34.60m, moving into seventh place individually on the Emory all-time list and in the hammer throw, junior Paris Wagner climbed to third on the Emory all-time list with a distance of 43.32m, finishing third. Junior Jordan Small and sophomore Nyla Lindo tied for third in the high jump at 1.55m and in the 3000m Steeplechase, junior Kaylee Slade was third in a time of 11:40.93. The 4x800m Relay of juniors Maeve Andrews, Kayla O'Shea and sophomores Ileana Zeissner, Nicole Steiner finished second at 9:32.04.

On day two of competition, Bland and sophomore Isabel Saridakis were second in their respective events with Bland in the 100m Dash (12.10) and Saridakis in the pole vault (3.35m). Saridakis' mark also moved her into a tie for third on the Emory all-time individual list. Goldman and classmate Gabrielle Stravach earned third place efforts with Goldman clocking a time of 56.24 in the 400m Dash and Stravach running a 4:44.21 in the 1,500m Run. O'Shea was fourth in the 800m Run at 2:18.95 as was the 4x100m Relay of Osei, Bland, senior Julia Leventhal and freshman Rebekah Bondi with a time of 48.57.

The Eagles return to action next weekend with the Berry Field Day Invitational on April 6th and 7th.
