Women's Track & Field Qualifies for Four Event Finals at NCAA D-III Outdoor Championships

The Emory University Women's Track and Field team qualified for the finals of four events as the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships got underway Thursday afternoon in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

The 4x400m Relay featuring juniors Dilys Osei, Dani Bland, sophomore Kaitlyn Leonard and senior Erica Goldman closed out the preliminary heats on day one in impressive fashion, cruising to the top time of the 16-team field at 3:45.60. Williams and Nebraska Wesleyan were the next closest finishers at 3:48.03 and 3:48.43, respectively.

Osei, Bland and Goldman were also part of the 4x100m Relay with freshman Rebekah Bondi that advanced to championship Saturday, turning in the fourth fastest preliminary time at 47.02. Their Thursday mark was the fastest by an Emory team this season and the fourth fastest in program history.

In addition to the two relays, Bland and senior Gabrielle Stravach were individual qualifiers for the Eagles, registering top-four preliminary times. Bland recorded the third fastest time in the 200m Dash at 24.79 while Stravach was fourth out of 21 runners in the 1500m Run, winning her heat with a time of 4:36.60

Osei rounded out the Emory individual competitors on the afternoon, finishing 12th in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 1:03.07.

The NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships continue on Friday with Goldman and Bland slated to run individually for the Eagles. Goldman will be competing in the 400m Dash at 5:15pm EST with Bland to follow in the 100m Dash at 5:45pm EST. Fans can watch both events live on NCAA.com here.
