Track & Field Heads to Brandeis for UAA Indoor Championships

The Emory University Track and Field teams travel north to Waltham, MA for the 2019 University Athletic Association Indoor Championships. The two-day championship meet will be held Saturday, February 23rd and Sunday, February 24th at the Gosman Athletic Center on the campus of Brandeis University.

The Eagles return six All-UAA performers on the women’s side including three individual conference champions and enter the meet with a combined 20 times or marks that rank inside the top-six in the conference individually.

For the women, reigning UAA Most Outstanding Performer senior Dani Bland looks to defend her 60m and 200m Dash crowns as she enters the meet with the top seed time in the 60m at 7.77 and is second in the 200m at 25.38. Classmate Dilys Osei and junior Greta Wilker also look to defend individual titles in the 60m Hurdles and Shot Put events. Osei enters sixth in the hurdles at 9.31 while Wilker is fourth at 12.01m.

Additional All-UAA returners for the women are sophomore Rebekah Bondi in the long jump, senior Kora Dreffs in the shot put and senior Paris Wagner in the weight throw.

On the men’s side, the Eagles feature four competitors which enter the meet with top-six conference marks. Freshman Brett Henshey looks to build on his strong rookie season as he owns the top seed mark in the high jump at 2.01m while his classmate Jacob Solomon ranks second in the 60m Dash at 7.07. In the 400m Dash, sophomore Liam Fost is seeded third with his time of 49.33 and in the 5000m Run, sophomore Jack Whetstone is sixth at 15:01.67.

Competition begins at noon eastern on Saturday with the women’s weight throw, long jump and men’s high jump events and wraps up with the 4x400m Relay at 2:20 PM on Sunday. Fans can follow the action from Boston with the links provided above.
