Women's Track & Field Takes Second at Crossplex Invitational

The Emory University Women's Track and Field team took second place at the annual Crossplex Invitational on Sunday, scoring 80.5 points as a team and finishing only behind Division I Troy University's 148 points. The Emory Crossplex Invitational was held in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Eagles' Distance Medley Relay team of senior Kayla O'Shea, sophomore Lauren Rodriguez, junior Ileana Zeissner and sophomore Angela Cao highlight the team on the afternoon, claiming first place in the event with a winning time of 12:47.02. Cao, O'Shea and Zeissner all added scoring marks on the afternoon with Cao (2:17.95) and O'Shea (2:20.07) placing second and fifth, respectively, in the 800m Run while Zeissner crossed in eighth in the mile with a time of 5:26.77.

In addition to Cao, Emory saw sophomores Rebekah Bondi and Carrie McIntyre earn second place efforts with Bondi posting a 5.31m mark in the long jump and McIntyre running a 10:19.80 in the 3000m.

In the field events, junior Isabel Saridakis (3.40m) and sophomore Andi Breitowich (3.10m) finished third and fifth in the pole vault to go along with junior Nyla Lindo earning fourth in the triple jump at 11.01m and senior Paris Wagner's fifth place showing in the weight throw with a distance of 15.01m.

Other scoring performances on Sunday included senior Dani Bland in the 60m Dash finals (5th, 7.77), sophomore Susannah Martin (4th, 18:35.56) and senior Paige Lesslauer (6th, 18:44.81) in the 5000m Run, sophomore Erin Yuder in the pole vault (7th, 2.95m) and freshman Zoe Friedman in the 3000m Run (7th, 10:54.89)
