Isabel Saridakis Sets New School Record in Pole Vault at Emory Invitational

The Emory University Women's Track and Field team opened the outdoor season on a strong note this weekend with a first place performance at its home invitational in Atlanta. The Eagles won a combined five events over the weekend, posted numerous top national marks and saw one school record broken to win the meet with 122 team points.

In the pole vault event, junior Isabel Saridakis broke her own school record, recording a new personal-best effort of 3.75m, topping her previous best and school record mark of 3.68m. Her height places her first nationally in Division III as of Sunday afternoon.

Over on the track, senior Dani Bland began her outdoor campaign in dominating fashion, winning both the 100m and 200m Dashes, posting times that currently rank among the very best in the country. Her winning mark of 11.95m in the 100m places her first among qualified runners while her time in 200m (24.78) has her second in the nation as of Sunday.

Adding event wins for the Eagles was sophomore Susannah Martin in the 10000m Run and the 4x800m Relay of senior Kayla O'Shea, junior Ileana Zeissner and sophomores Olivia Hoekendijk and Ana Morris. Martin ran a 37:51.99 to win, a time that puts her second in Division III, while the 3200m Relay turned in a time of 9:51.47.

In the shot put, junior Greta Wilker set a new personal best with a distance of 12.25m, moving her into second place on the Emory all-time list. And in the 400m Hurdles, senior Dilys Osei came in second place with her finals time of 1:03.52, a mark that currently ranks third in the country.

The Eagles continue their home meet stretch with the Emory Classic next Friday and Saturday, March 29-30 at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta.
