Track & Field Competes at Tufts National Final Qualifier

The Emory University Track and Field team sent a small group of competitors to Tufts University Saturday in a final effort to improve their marks prior to the NCAA Championships next weekend in Boston, MA.

For the women, seniors Dani Bland and Dilys Osei claimed event wins with Bland posting a winning time of 7.78 in the 60m Dash finals and Osei recorded a new career-high of 25.46 to win the 200m Dash. Osei also registered a third place showing in the 60m Hurdles at 8.97 and in the 200m Dash, Bland placed 10th with a finals time of 26.64. On the men’s side, freshman Brett Henshey earned an event victory in the high jump, recording a winning height of 2.01m.

Junior Isabel Saridakis was just .01m off of her school record mark in the pole vault as she finished fifth at 3.62m. Senior Paris Wagner came in sixth in weight throw with a distance of 15.26m

Other Eagles in action on Saturday were sophomore Jack Whetstone in the 5000m Run (5th, 15:08.32), sophomore Liam Fost in the 200m Dash (9th, 23.22), freshman Hannah Lansberry in the 400m Dash (4th, 59.41) and the men’s distance medley relay team of Fost, freshman Jon Marcus and sophomores Thomas Perretta and Jacob Hedgepeth (8th, 10:28.59).

The NCAA Indoor Championships are set to take place March 8th and 9th at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, MA.
