Junior Laura Sheckter set a new Emory record in the women’s shotput at the Emory Crossplex Showdown in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday. Sheckter hurled the shot 13.51m, which was an improvement of more than a full meter over the previous mark that was set just last month. The throw ranks as the eighth-best attempt in DIII this season and puts Sheckter at the top of the UAA.
The Manhattan Beach, CA native claimed first-place and earned her team 10 points to help it capture fifth-place out of 16 teams with 55 points. The converted Eagle basketball player also took eighth-place in the women’s weight throw with an effort of 13.85m. The throw added one more point to her team’s total and is the second-best in the UAA this season.
