Karissa Dzurik

Sophomore Karissa Dzurik helped the Eagles' Volleyball Team to a 3-1 season-opening record, with the squad hosting the Emory Classic.

Dzurik earned a spot on the Emory Classic All-Tournament Team after logging all 15 sets of action over the four matches and averaging a team-high 3.67 kills per set.  In addition, she averaged 2.00 digs and 0.33 blocks per set.  The 5-foot-11 outside hitter recorded double-figure terminations in all four contests and paced Emory in that category in three matches.  In the Classic opener, a 3-1 triumph over St. Thomas, Dzurik was second on the team with 15 kills, her second-highest career total, and chipped in nine digs and two block assists.  She then paced the club with 11 kills in a 3-0 decision over No. 25 UW-Oshkosh.   On the final day of action, she pounded out a match-best 14 successful attack attempts and hit a solid .462 (14-2--26) as Emory prevailed over St. Mary's College by a 3-0 count.  In the final match of the weekend, Dzurik totaled 15 kills and contributed 13 digs in a five-set battle vs. the College of Saint Benedict.  Dzurik now claims 17 career matches of 10 or more kills.

Emory returns to action, Sept. 9-10, when it competes at the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational.
