Emory Post Match Interview

The No. 5-ranked Emory volleyball team's stay in the NCAA D-III Tournament continued on Saturday as the Eagles came away with a victory over Clarkson University in the semifinals of the Brockport, New York Regional.  The Eagles captured their 10th straight match and raised their overall record to 32-5 following a 3-1 triumph (25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 25-17) over the Golden Knights who closed out their season at 22-15.

Emory closed out the contest hitting .224 (61-25—161) compared to CU's .154 (48-25—149), the 33rd time this year it finished with an edge in that department.  The Eagles' 61 terminations represented their third-highest total of the campaign.  Emory held advantages in both digs (68-61) and total blocks (9-7).

Emory senior Jessica Holler was a one-person wrecking crew after pacing all players with 18 kills (her second-highest career mark), a hitting percentage of .424 (18-4—33) and a match-best seven (1-6) total blocks. It was her 22nd double-figure match of double-digit kills and upped her career total to 1,324, good for ninth place on the school's all-time ladder.

Seniors Sarah Maher and Kathryn Trinka each chipped in 12 kills with Maher contributing 13 digs, her seventh double-double of the season, and Trinka a pair of block assists.  Sophomore Sydney Leimbach rounded out Emory's double-figure terminators with 11 to go along with a .417 (11-1—24) attack percentage.

Sophomore Becky Breuer chalked up 15 digs and doled out four of the team's seven service aces while junior Hannah Billings dished out 30 assists.

Emory moves into Sunday's Regional final where it will clash with either Ithaca or host Brockport in a 2:00 pm scheduled start.
