Emory University sophomore Morgan McKnight (Manassas, VA) has been named by the University Athletic Association as the Volleyball Hitter of the Week following her performance at the Emory National Classic.  It is the second straight week that she has been selected for the honor. 

The 5-foot-10 McKnight earned National Classic MVP honors after helping the Eagles to wins over a pair of nationally ranked foes. She averaged a team-leading 4.14 kills per set and hit .289 (29-7—76) as Emory topped No. 8 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and No. 6 Juniata.

In a 3-1 decision over the Athenas of CMS, McKnight tied for match honors with a career-high tying 15 terminations while adding a pair of block assists. She followed that performance by pacing all performers with 14 kills and a .462 hitting percentage (14-2--26) in a 3-0 triumph against Juniata.

Through matches played September 18, McKnight leads the conference in kills per set (3.50 kps) and is tied for seventh in attack percentage (.277).

Emory, winners of its last seven matches and the owners of an 8-1 overall record, returns to action this Friday and Saturday (Sept. 22-23) when it competes at the Transylvania Invitational.
