Emory Volleyball Wins Twice On Saturday At Transylvania Invitational

The No. 4-ranked Emory volleyball team now owns a 10-match winning streak after winning two contests Saturday at the Transylvania Invitational.  The Eagles opened with a 3-1 decision (25-23, 28-30, 25-18, 26-24) over a determined Heidelberg University unit before closing out the weekend with a 3-0 triumph (25-16, 25-21, 25-22) over Bowdoin College.  Emory stands 11-1 on the season.

Emory 3, Heidelberg 1
** The two squads pound out a total of 116 kills while combining for 131 digs and 21 total blocks.
** Emory finishes with a .252 (66-25—163) to .178 (50-22—157) advantage in hitting percentage – it is the ninth time in 11 matches that the Eagles have outhit the opposition.
** Emory posts a 69-62 margin in digs and a 13-8 cushion in total blocks.
** Junior Sydney Leimbach paces all players with a career-high 16 kills, tying the high-water mark by an Emory player this season.  In addition, she hits a match-best .583 (16-2—24) and contributes eight (4-4) total blocks, her second-highest career total.
** Freshman Leah Saunders chalks up a dozen terminations and adds a season-best 16 digs (second double-double of the year), four block assists and three service aces.
** Sophomores Savannah Bush and Morgan McKnight round out the double-figure terminators with 11 kills each, with Bush's total a career best.  Bush also registers five block assists.

** Junior Mady Arles and sophomore Sarah Porter dole out 28 and 25 assists, respectively.

Emory 3, Bowdoin 0
** Emory outhits the opposition again, registering a .239 attack percentage (40-14—109) vs. .139 (36-20—115) for Bowdoin. 
** Emory has held its last 10 opponents to hitting percentage of less than .200
** Sophomore Sara Carr tops all performers with 11 kills, her sixth outing of double figures this season, and a match-high .435 hitting percentage (11-1—23).
** Morgan McKnight is next up on the team leader board with eight kills while Sydney Leimbach and Saunders each contribute seven terminations to the cause. 
** Sarah Porter and Mady Arles each tally 14 assists with Arles adding three kills and Porter six digs.
** Sophomore Elyse Thompson leads the Eagles with 11 digs.

Emory returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 28) when it hosts Covenant College in a 7:00 p.m. start
