Tara Martin Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team

Emory University senior Tara Martin from the women's volleyball team has been named to the Academic All-America Third Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday afternoon.

Martin becomes the seventh member of the volleyball program to be named an Academic All-American and the 193rd in the history of Emory Athletics to earn the distinction.

Martin adds to her long list of accolades for the 2021 season as she previously was recognized as an AVCA Third Team All-American, an AVCA All-Region selection, All-UAA First Team honoree. In addition, Martin was named to All-Tournament teams at the Atlanta, Georgia NCAA regional, 2021 East-West Battle, Emory National Invitational and the Emory Classic.

As a senior, Martin led the Eagles to an overall record of 25-6 and a trip to the NCAA Atlanta, Georgia Regional Final. She played in 110 of the team's 111 sets, topping the team with 337 kills to go along with 185 digs, 23 assists and 39 blocks with her 337 kills were the most of any UAA performer this season.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a key starter or reserve, maintain a 3.30 grade point average, be of sophomore standing or higher, and have attended their current institutions for at least one year.
