Senior Gabrielle Stravach shined in helping the No. 26-ranked Emory women's cross country team to a runner-up finish at the NCAA South/Southeast Region Championships.

Stravach crossed the finish line in the No. 1 spot out of 240 runners, clocking a school-record 6k time of 20:59. It represented the sixth straight time this season and 13th dating from last year that she ranked as the team's No. 1 runner.

Stravach becomes the seventh different Emory runner to win the individual crown at Regionals, joining Elise Viox (2015), Tess Gallegos (2010), Amy DiBianca (2006), Angela Davie (2002), Sarah Byrd (2000, 2001) and Christine Gallagher (1994).

Emory registered 83 points, just three points from first-place finisher Trinity (Tex.). The Eagles' second-place finish enabled them to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA D-III Championships this Saturday (Nov. 18) in Elsah, Illinois.
