Emory Cross Country Represented At Pre-Nationals & Berry Invitational

The Emory men's and women's cross country teams continue their seasons on Saturday (Oct. 14) when they send representatives to a pair of competitions.  The Eagles will send their top runners to Elsah, Illinois, to compete at the Principia College Cowbell Classic (Pre-National) Meet, with the men's 8k race slated for a 9:45 am (CDT) start, followed by the women's 6k at 10:45 am.  In addition, Emory will send a contingent of runners to race at the Berry College Invitational.  That competition will be held at the Clara Bowl Course with the men's 8k starting at 9:00 am and the women's 6k at 10:00 am.

On the women's side at the Pre-National Meet, No. 21-ranked Emory will be one of approximately 33 teams competing.  The field is stacked with talent with five of the top 10 and a total of 14 teams that appear in this week's USFTCCCA Top 35 Poll.  Among the ranked institutions taking part include No. 1 Johns Hopkins, No. 2 Washington University, No. 4 SUNY-Geneseo, No. 6 Chicago and No. 10 Wheaton (Ill.).

The Emory men, ranked 30th nationally, are one of 37 teams hitting the course. The Eagles will be facing a host of talented squads with seven of the top 11 and a total of 17 schools ranked among the top 35 comprising this year's field.  Top-10 programs slated to race include No. 1 North Central, No. 2 SUNY- Geneseo, No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer, No. 8 Washington University, No. 9 Christopher Newport and No. 10 Calvin College.

The Principia College North Farm Cross Country Facility will be the site of the 2017 NCAA D-III Championships (Nov. 18).

Both Emory teams last competed on Sept. 30 when they registered first-place finishes at the JSU Foothills Invitational in Oxford, Alabama.
