The Emory men's and women's cross country teams came through with solid performances Saturday morning at the Berry College Invitational. 

The men's contingent came away with a first-place performance out of 18 teams with 72 points. Host Berry College was runner-up with 90 points while Covenant College ranked third with 107 points.  Rounding out the top five were Oglethorpe University (115 pts.) and Piedmont College (159 pts.).

Senior Max Brown paced the Eagles' pack, capturing the third scoring position and finishing eighth overall out of 200 runners with an 8k time of 26:47. Junior Ryan Fan was the next Emory runner to cross the finish line with a personal-best time of 27:04 that slotted him 14^th overall (#9 scoring spot.).  Senior Greg Litle clocked a 27:19, good for 20^th on the overall leader board and the 14^th scoring slot. Rounding out the team's scorers were freshman Jack Whetstone (27:44, 26^th place) and sophomore Andrew Kliewer (27:52, 33^rd place).

The women's side closed out the competition in third place out of 23 squads, totaling 72 points.  Berry raced to the No. 1 spot with 55 points, just one point ahead of SCAD Atlanta.  Covenant College (157 pts.) and Birmingham Southern (171 pts.) ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Eagle women landed three of the top overall 20 finishers, spearheaded by freshman Caroline Johnson who navigated the 6k course in a time of 24:36, good for the No. 14 slot (# 9 scoring) out of 212 entries. Junior Paige Lesslauer was close behind with her effort of 24:45 second on the team and 17^th overall (#12 scoring). Freshman Amanda Li rounded out the trio at 24:51, ranking her 19^th (13^th scoring).  Rounding out the scorers were sophomore Tori Spiezo (25:18, 26^th place) and freshman Ana Morris (25:24, 28^th place).
