Gabrielle Stravach Earns USTFCCCA Honor

Emory University senior Gabrielle Stravach (Westfield, NJ) has been named by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as South/Southeast Region Women's Athlete of the Year for the 2017 cross country season.

Stravach has shined for the No. 22 women's side, ranking as the squad's top performer in all six of her competitions this season and last 13 dating from a year ago. In her most recent outing, Stravach became the seventh different Emory runner in program history to take home first place at the NCAA South/Southeast Region Championships, topping the 240-runner field in a school-record 6K time of 20:59.  She raced to First Team All-UAA honors after finishing second at the league championships and was fifth overall out of 332 entries at the Cowbell Classic (Pre-Nationals) back on October 14.

Stravach is the fourth Emory runner in the past 12 season to have been awarded the Region Athlete of the Year.

The Eagles wind up their season on Saturday, November 18, at the NCAA D-III Championships in Elsah, Illinois.
