The Eagles Weekly Preview for February 17th – 23rd. This preview is to serve as a weekly snapshot of all upcoming Emory athletic events for the coming week.

 

Women’s Tennis

After opening the spring last week against Georgia Gwinnett, the Eagles return to their home courts with two dual matches at the WoodPEC. First, Emory hosts SCAD – Atlanta to begin the week before taking on the Tigers of Sewanee Saturday afternoon.

Baseball

After experiencing a rain shortened weekend in Montgomery, AL, the baseball team (2-1) looks for better weather as they stay in the state of Georgia for three games this week. The Eagles travel to Berry College (4-2) for a single game Wednesday night before returning to Atlanta to host DePauw (0-0) in a Saturday doubleheader at Chappell Park.

Swimming & Diving

Fresh off sweeping the UAA Championships for the 22nd consecutive year, the Eagles are set to host the their spring invitational in the final swimming tune up before next month’s NCAA Championships. The three session meet is scheduled to span two days and will feature teams from Birmingham-Southern, Centre College and Emmanuelle along with the host Eagles.

Softball

The reigning Division III national runner-ups gear up for the start of the 2020 season with two series against south regional foes. The No. 2 ranked team in the NFCA preseason poll, the Eagles travel to Piedmont Friday night before welcoming No. 15 ranked Birmingham-Southern to Atlanta for the home opener Sunday afternoon.

Women’s Basketball

The Eagles remain in the hunt for the UAA crown, sitting at 7-4 and one game back of both Chicago and NYU (8-3) with three games remaining in the regular season. Emory (16-6 overall) begins the final road trip of the year with a matchup Friday evening against Carnegie Mellon (10-12, 3-8 UAA) before finishing off the week at Case Western Reserve (10-12, 5-6 UAA) Sunday afternoon.

Men’s Basketball

After a weekend sweep of NYU and Brandeis, the Eagles (19-3, 9-2 UAA) are in the driver’s seat atop the UAA standings with three games remaining in the regular season. Emory holds a two-game lead on the rest of the conference and owns the tiebreaker over WashU who also sits at 9-2 in league action. The Eagles begin the home stretch with a meeting at Carnegie Mellon (10-12, 3-8 UAA) before wrapping up the weekend trip with Case Western Reserve (11-11, 4-7 UAA) on Sunday.

Track & Field

One last tune up is on tap for the track and field programs before next week’s UAA Indoor Championships in New York. After competing at the Samford Open, the Eagles will send a contingent to South Caroline for the Gamecocks’ indoor open Saturday afternoon.

Men’s Tennis

Following a season-opening 8-1 decision over Point University, the No. 1 ranked men’s tennis program heads to Saint Peter, MN for the 2020 ITA Division III National Indoor Championships. The Eagles will be one of eight teams vying for this year’s indoor title along with WashU, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Kenyon, Case Western Reserve, Brandeis, host Gustavus Adolphus and defending indoor champion Chicago.
