Emory Athletics Update For Spring 2021

Emory Athletics Update For Spring 2021

Earlier today, Emory University announced its plans for spring 2021 with the semester beginning on January 25 (University information for Spring 2021).

In support of those plans, a working group has been charged with exploring if and how intercollegiate athletics, club sports, and intramurals can be reintroduced on campus consistent with the university’s public health and safety guidelines and expectations.  Recommendations developed by the working group will be submitted to university leadership for consideration and final decisions will be shared with the Emory community. The working group will consist of athletics administrators, coaches, sports medicine and team physicians, and Emory health and public safety experts.  It will also actively engage with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. In addition to the potential reintroduction of athletics-related activities, the overall health and well-being of our community is very important. Staff in Counseling and Psychological Services and in Athletics are partnering with student-athlete leaders to create programming that will provide an opportunity for interactive networking to enhance community building and connectivity for student-athletes. More information will be shared as plans are finalized. In the interim, Emory student-athletes are encouraged to remain in contact with their head coaches during this time to stay abreast of any pertinent information and developments.

The Emory community can continue to help in the fight against COVID-19 by following the health and safety protocols outlined in the University’s Community Compact. For ongoing updates from the university, please visit Emory Forward.
