Emory Athletics Weekly Preview - November 8th - 14th

The Emory Athletics Weekly Preview for November 8th – 14th. This preview is to serve as a weekly snapshot of all upcoming Emory athletic events for the coming week.

 

Women's Basketball:

The women's basketball team opens its season this week against three regional foes. The Eagles open the season Wednesday night, facing off against LaGrange before travelling to Birmingham to take on Hendrix and Birmingham-Southern. The Eagles return starters Tori Huggins and Anna Arato as they look to improve upon their 19-6 record from their last season in 2019-2020.

Volleyball: 

The Emory volleyball team plays host to the regional tournament this weekend with hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Quarterfinals in St. Louis, MO. The Eagles (23-5) first round match of the NCAA Tournament is against Southern Virginia (28-4). The Eagles come into the tournament as the region's No. 2 ranked team with Berry entering as the No.1 ranked team in the eight team region.

Men's Basketball:

The men's basketball team opens its season against regional opponent Piedmont on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM. The No. 13 ranked Eagles return the big three of Romin Williams, Nick Stuck and D3Hoops.com Preseason Honorable Mention All-American Matthew Schner as they aim to improve on their 22-5 and NCAA second round finish in the 2019-2020 season.

Women's Soccer:

The women's soccer team will travel to Danville, KY for the first round of the NCAA tournament as they take on Wittenburg. The Eagles (11-4-3) will face off against Wittenburg (10-8-1) and if they win, will take on the winner of Centre (15-1-2) and Covenant (13-5-2) on Saturday.

Cross Country:

The men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the NCAA South/Southeast Region Championships this weekend in Spartanburg, SC for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships on November 20. The men's team is hoping to secure their second consecutive first place finish in the region while the women look for their first regional championship since 2018.

Men's Soccer:

The men's soccer team will host a four team sectional that marks the first and second round of the NCAA tournament this weekend. The Eagles (9-3-4) will matchup against Centre (10-5-3) in the first round and if they emerge victorious will face off against the winner of Lynchburg (15-4-1) and Hanover (14-4-1) Sunday afternoon.
