Eagles Stand 10th in Director's Cup Standings Following Winter Season

Emory University moved into tenth place in the 2021-22 Learfield Directors' Cup as the Eagles gained a combined total of 240 points during the winter season to bring their year-long total to 510 points.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's NCAA Tournament finishes in up to 18 sports - nine women's and nine men's. Announced in late March, the winter standings include results for men's and women's basketball, women's bowling, fencing, men's and women's ice hockey, rifle, skiing, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's indoor track & field and men's wrestling.

The Eagles had three sports earn points for the winter standings: men's basketball, women's swimming & diving, and men's swimming & diving. With the men's swimming & diving team winning their second national championship in program history in March they secured 100 points for Emory's total. The women's swimming & diving team, finishing as the runner-up at the DIII National Championships, added an additional 90 points for the Eagles. Rounding out scoring in the winter was the men's basketball team who made it to the second round of the NCAA DIII Tournament which earned Emory 50 more points to bring their winter total to 240.

The Eagles will be looking once again to earn a spot in the top 10 of the Directors' Cup with continued NCAA success in the spring season. The competition was canceled in both 2019-20 and 2020-21 due to COVID-19. Prior to the cancellations, the Eagles had finished inside the top-10 in the final Director's Cup standings in nine consecutive years and 18 of the last 19 seasons.
