Mike Hyde Named CEFMA Facilities Manager of the Year

The Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association (CEFMA) is proud to announce the winner of its 2024 Facility Manager of the Year Award, Mike Hyde, associate director of athletic facilities at Emory University.

The Facility Manager of the Year Award is intended to recognize an athletics administrator that has gone through extraordinary efforts working on and completing construction and maintenance projects on their campus. 

 "I'm thrilled to congratulate Michael on being named CEFMA Facility Manager of the Year," said Derek Dootlittle, the assistant general manager at The Rose Bowl and current CEFMA president." The board felt that Michael's accomplishments set him apart from the other candidates in what was a very competitive pool this year. It was an honor for our board to recognize Michael as the 2024 Facility Manager of the Year."

Hyde has completed several projects during his time at Emory University. Some of the projects include installing a new filter and spa system in the Emory Aquatic Center that replaced the 1983 systems. Hyde also helped to redesign of the main floor of Woodruff PE Center, spearheaded the auxiliary basketball court resurface and installation of baseball turf around home plate, and is currently working to redesign and replace the outdoor track which will be completed May 2024. 
 
Additionally, Hyde has oversight of six professional staff members. He serves as part of the senior staff, risk management committee and campus wide sustainability committee. Hyde has oversight of two athletic/recreation facilities and four athletic/recreation fields on campus and manages 10 weeks of summer camps.
