Baseball Falls in Season Finale at NYU

The Emory University Baseball team fell in the regular season finale to New York University, 11-7, Sunday afternoon at MCU Park in Brooklyn, New York.

The Eagles conclude their season with a 20-18 overall record and 11-5 in the University Athletic Association, finishing second behind Case Western Reserve in the team standings. NYU moved to 27-11 with the win and 6-10 in conference play.

The Violets did all of their damage over the first three innings, scoring five times in both the first and second frames and tacking on one more in the third. Ryan Mclaughlin and Scott Hilbrandt each drove in a team-high three runs with Mclaughlin collecting a game-high four hits including two doubles.

For the Eagles, junior NJ Kim was 3-for-4 with a team-high three RBI, falling a home run shy of the cycle. Senior Nick Chambers was 3-for-4 with two RBI while classmate Bubby Terp adding two hits including a solo home run. Fellow senior Josh Rosenblatt recorded a career-high three hits in five at-bats, all doubles, and scored a pair of runs.

Freshman Christian Bradley was handed the loss as NYU taxed him for four runs in two-thirds of an inning. Senior Rhett Stuart was effective in relief for the Eagles, tossing four shutout innings, allowing just two walks and one hit, and striking out two.
