A five-run seventh inning played a key role in the Emory University Baseball team's 12-7 victory over Whitworth University on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Chappell Park in Atlanta.

With the score tied at 7-7, the Eagles broke open the game with a five-run frame capped off by a two-run home run by junior Ryan Adelman. Emory was the fortunate recipient of a balk call that brought home the go-ahead run in sophomore Jack Rubenstein. Junior David Shore followed in the inning with a RBI single that plated senior Bubby Terp and later scored on a sac fly by sophomore Jacob Singer. Adleman provided the final blow with a towering blast to right for his first career round tripper.

Freshman Jack Brodksy pitched 2.2 scoreless innings to record his second win of the season. Junior James Robertson cruised through the first three innings, as he retired the first 10 men he faced before struggling in the fourth, allowing seven unearned runs.

The seven-run fourth by the Pirates erased an early cushion the Emory offense had provided as the Eagles began the afternoon with three runs in the first and a four spot in the second. Brodsky and classmate Bryant Wise kept the visitors off the score board for the final five innings, combining for 5.1 innings of shutout ball.

Terp had another big day at the plate, driving in a team-high three runs, as he went 2-for-4 with a walk. Rubenstein had three hits, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three stolen bases and his fourth hit-by-pitch of the year.

Adelman along with freshman Zeke Diamond and junior Richard Brereton added multi-hit performances for the Eagles with at least one run driven in.

Emory will be back at Chappell Park Sunday afternoon as the team closes out the weekend against Christopher Newport University. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM.
