Emory University baseball members Michael Edelman and Joey Bock were named to the D3Baseball.com All-South Region Third Team as announced Monday afternoon. It is the first career regional honor for both Eagles.
Edelman earns his selection after batting .400 across the abbreviated season. In 11 games played, he led the team with 20 hits, six doubles, 11 RBI, five stolen bases and a .620 slugging percentage. Edelman recorded at least one hit in every game he played in and ended the year with a four-game RBI streak including a season-high three RBI in game one of a doubleheader at Sewanee on April 11th.
Bock joins Edelman with regional praise following a standout season on the mound, leading the staff in both wins (4) and strikeouts (27). Bock was great on the mound during the short season, going 4-0 with one save as he tied for the team lead with six appearances. He ended the year with a 2.19 earned run average in 24.2 innings pitched and held opponents to a .247 average. He struck out at least five batters in four of his outings including a career-best eight in a six-inning start at Piedmont on March 28th.
Earlier this spring, Edelman and Bock were recognized by the University Athletic Association as they were one of five Eagles tabbed to the All-UAA team.
