Six Eagles Honored on D3Baseball.com & ABCA All-Region Teams

Six members of the Emory University baseball team were honored with All-Region acclaim as both the D3baseball.com and American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) organizations released their All-Region teams this week.

As announced on the morning of Memorial Day, six Eagles were chosen across the three teams for D3baseball.com. Senior Aaron Mishoulam and junior Tyler McLoughlin led the selections with First Team honors with senior Ellis Schwartz and junior Jacob Grossman earning Second Team berths. Sophomore Jack Halloran and senior Henry Pelinski rounded out the D3baseball.com honors with spots on the Third Team.

On Tuesday, four Eagles made their mark on the ABCA All-Region teams with McLoughlin once again earning a First Team nod while Schwartz joined him on the First Team. Halloran added Second Team honors by the coaches association with Pelinski garnering Third Team kudos.

The 2023 selections from both organizations marked the first career All-Region honors for all six Eagles. The six All-Region honors from D3baseball.com were the most by any school in the South Region.

McLoughlin earns his second and third First Team award this postseason after landing a spot on the All-UAA First Team earlier this month. McLoughlin closed out his Emory career as a two-way threat in 2023. McLoughlin was one of four Eagles to finish the season with 50 or more hits with half going for extra bases (13 doubles & 12 HR). On the mound he was a lights out reliever, going 3-0 with six saves in 13 appearances with 28 strikeouts in 20 innings. He recorded a 1.80 ERA and did not allow a run over his first 11 outings. He established a new program single-season record with his .129 opponent batting average and was second on the single-season all-time list with 12 home runs.

Mishoulam adds to his awards cabinet following UAA Pitcher of the Year and All-UAA First Team honors. In his senior campaign, he went 7-2 across 11 starts with a 3.28 ERA while striking out 63 batters in 60.1 innings. He went 7-0 over his final nine starts, including a 3-0 mark in three UAA starts. In his three conference starts, Mishoulam allowed just two earned runs over 19 innings and struck out 27 batters.

For Schwartz, he was the lone Eagle to start all 39 games, leading the team in hits, runs, triples, stolen bases and became the first Eagle to homer three times in a single game, doing so against Oglethorpe on February 26. He was a two-time selection to the D3Baseball.com National Team of the Week and was one of four Eagles on the All-UAA First Team.

Halloran adds to his awards list after garnering All-UAA First Team honors after starting 37 games in his second season. He finished the season on a torrid pace, collecting 27 hits with eight home runs, while scoring 24 times and driving in 34 runs over his final 13 games. He finished the year with a team-best 15 doubles, topped the team with a .704 slugging percentage, was second on the team with 11 home runs and tied Schwartz for the team lead with 52 RBI. He became the first Eagle to be named a National Player of the Week by NCBWA following a historic series at Brandeis.

Pelinski adds to his ledger after recording a career-best year as a senior in 2023. He ended the year as the UAA leader with a .535 on-base percentage and second in the conference with a .435 batting clip. He racked up 54 hits, finishing the regular season on a 12-game hitting streak, and had 10 extra base hits. He was one of five Eagles to draw 20 or more walks to go along with 35 runs scored and drove in 33.

Grossman rounds out the All-Region honorees after making the All-UAA Second Team as a junior. Grossman hit at a .357 pace over 36 games and was one of three Eagles to reach 40 runs, was fifth on the team with 45 hits and was third with 12 doubles. Grossman had a .461 on-base percentage, fourth among Emory starters, and totaled 23 walks and collected a team-leading 14 steals in 17 attempts.
