Emory Golf Third After Opening Two Rounds Of Tournament Town Preview

Results

The No. 7-ranked Emory University golf team finds itself in third place after its completion of the opening two rounds of the Tournament Town Preview.  The 54-hole event is being played at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.  Sunday's 36 holes of action were contested on the 6,730-yard, par-72 West Course and the 7,015-yard, par-72 East Course.

While darkness prevented 10 of the 18 teams from completing all 36 holes, Emory is firmly entrenched in the No. 3 position with a team score of six-over par 582 (292-290). The Eagles played their opening round on the West Course before taking on the East for the next 18 holes.  UT-Tyler is in the clubhouse in the top spot at 570 (281-289) while Illinois Wesleyan, who had two players still competing when competition was called, stands second at even par.

Freshman Eric Yiu led the Emory contingent with a two-under of 142 (68-74), tying for third place in the 90-player field. Yiu's opening round effort on the West Course saw him chalk up six birdies and two bogeys.  Junior Connor Yakubov was the next Emory player to appear on the leader board at two-over par 146 (75-71), while Stefano Butti (76-73) and senior Keenan Hickton (77-72) each carded five-over par 149s.  Sophomore Matt Organisak ended Sunday at 153 (73-80).

Emory closes out play on Monday morning with an 8:15 am shotgun start.
