The Emory golf team played its opening round of the Piedmont College Invitational on Monday.  The 36-hole tournament is being played at the 6,976-yard, par-72 Orchard Golf and Country Club in Clarkesville, Georgia.

Sending out a contingent of players who are seeing their first action of the year, Emory is tied with Averett College for fourth place out of 16 teams with a score of 319. Truett-McConnell holds down the top spot at 305 while Piedmont and Methodist are deadlocked for second just one shot behind.

Sophomore Sam Galloway was the top Emory performer, posting a three-over par 75 that is good for a sixth-place tie out of 80 players. Junior Anthony Muscato was the next Eagle to show up on the leader board with his 79 tying for the No. 22 position. Rounding out the Emory scorers were freshman Davis Hintgen (81) and junior Noah Apter (84).  Sophomore Leo Rich shot an 85 while sophomore Vraj Patel, playing as an individual, carded an 82.
