Emory Golf Finishes Eighth At Piedmont Fall Invitational

The Emory golf team closed out its participation at the Piedmont Fall Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. The 36-hole tournament was played at the 6,976-yard, par-72 Orchard Golf and Country Club in Clarkesville, Georgia.

The Eagles finished eighth out of 15 teams, recording a score of 643 (319-324).  Host Piedmont captured the top spot in the field with a 600 (306-294), just edging Truett-McConnell by one stroke (305-296).

Sophomore Sam Galloway enjoyed a solid second round, firing an even-par 72 that gave him a score of three-over par 147 (75-72), good for fifth place out of 80 players. Galloway was just one of five players in the field to shoot par or better on Tuesday.  Sophomore Leo Rich posted an 80 on the second day of play, leaving him at 165, tying for the 55th position. Other Eagles making up the team included junior Anthony Muscato (79-86—165), freshman Davis Hintgnen (81-86—167) and junior Noah Apter (84-86—170).  Sophomore Vraj Patel competed as an individual and tied for 34th place on the leader board with a 161 (82-79).

Davis Cook of Piedmont and Preston Wagaman tied for medalist honors with each player finishing at one-over par 145.

Emory returns to action, Oct. 7-8, when it competes at the Oglethorpe Fall Invitational at the Royal Lakes Golf Course in nearby Flowery Branch.
