Emory Golf Finishes Fourth At Golfweek DIII Invitational

The No. 3-ranked Emory golf team closed out its participation at the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational on Tuesday.  The 54-hole competition was held on the 6,568-yard, par-71 Raven Course at the Sandestin (FL) Beach and Resort Club.

The Eagles of head coach John Sjoberg posted a fourth-place finish out of 18 teams, shooting a final-day score of 297 to finish at 872, tying the program's third-best mark for a 54-hole tournament. St. Thomas (MN) played its way to first-place status, ending the tournament with a five-over par 857 (284-278-295), seven shots better than runner-up Huntingdon College's performance of 864 (287-285-292).  Illinois Wesleyan was third at 865 (288-283-294).

Senior Keenan Hickton closed out an exceptional Invitational, shooting the team's best score of the day at one-under par 70.  Hickton registered a three-round score of 209 (70-69-70) , good for second place in the 90-player field and representing the school's all-time second-best mark for a 54-hole event (Matt Organisak holds the record of 206 set at the 2017 Rhodes Fall Classic).  Junior Stefano Butti carded a final round two-over par 73, leaving him at three-over par 216 and tied for the No. 11 position on the leader board.  After checking in with a 74 on Tuesday, sophomore Sam Galloway ended up tied for 40th place with a score of 223. Junior Connor Yakubov closed out the team's scorers with an 80 that finished his Invitational effort at 225.  Sophomore Matt Organisak competed and totaled a 236 (83-72-81).

Stephen Shepherd of Huntingdon College captured medalist honors with a fine eight-under par score of 205 (69-68-68).
