Emory Golf Places Four On All-UAA Team - Organisak Named Player Of The Year For 2nd Straight Season

Emory Golf Places Four On All-UAA Team - Organisak Named Player Of The Year For 2nd Straight Season

Four members of the No. 3-ranked Emory University golf squad have been selected to the All-University Athletic Association Team.  The all-league picks were chosen by the conference coaches.  The Eagles saw three members of the program earn first-team status while one garnered second-team acclaim.

Sophomore Matt Organisak (Sudbury, MA) highlighted the Emory representatives with his second straight nod to the first team as well as being chosen as the league's Player of the Year.  Organisak has played in all of Emory's tournaments this season, averaging a team-best 73.1 strokes over 19 rounds. He has ranked as the team's top performer on four occasions while recording a team-high 10 rounds of par or better.  His best 18-hole effort of the season was a second-round 67 (tying the program's fourth-best individual round in school history) at the Rhodes College Fall Classic, where he ended up tied for co-medalist honors with a school-record 54-hole score of 206. Named the UAA Golfer of the Week on three occasions, Organisak has compiled four top-five finishes this season, including a third-place performance out of 83 competitors at the Discover DeKalb Emory Spring Invitational with an even-par 140, tying the school's fourth-best showing for a 36-hole tournament. He helped the Eagles to their third straight conference crown, playing his way to a spot on the Championships All-Tournament Team.

Senior Keenan Hickton (Pittsburgh, PA) landed first-team recognition for the third time in his career after logging 19 rounds of play and averaging 73.4 strokes per outing, good for the No. 2 spot on the club.  Hickton, who has registered seven rounds of par or better this year, was named the Most Valuable Player at the UAA Championships after winning both of his match-play competitions in helping the Eagles to their third straight conference title.   He has finished as Emory's top scorer on two occasions during the campaign, most recently at the 36-hole Kravetz Invitational (Apr. 13-14). Earlier in the season, he paced the team and finished runner-up out of 89 entries at the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational, posting a 54-hole score of four-under 209, the second-best mark for a three-round event in school history.

Junior Stefano Butti (Palm City, FL) earned his third first-team award, averaging 75.0 strokes over 16 round of play. He has three rounds of par or better this season, one of which came at the Discover DeKalb Emory Spring Invitational when he carded a career-best five-under par 66 on the second day of action, with that score tying the school record. Another sub-par effort came during the second day of action at the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational when he shot a three-under 68 (team's top individual score for the tourney), en route to ranking second on the team and 11th overall out of 89 players with a 54-hole effort of 216.

Junior Connor Yakubov (Columbus, OH) rounded out the honorees with his third all-conference honor and second straight berth on the second team. Yakubov has averaged 74.2 strokes over 19 rounds of play, registering four rounds of par or better.  He was the squad's top scorer and placed 15th on the leader board out of 99 players at the Tournament Town Preview, recording a 54-hole score of 221.
