The No. 1-ranked Emory University golf team finds itself in second place after the opening two rounds of the 28th annual Gordin Classic.  The 54-hole event is being played on the 7,098-yard, par-72 Columbus Country Club in Ohio.

After carding a team score of two-under 286 over the first 18 holes of action, the Eagles shot a second-round 291 to close out the day at one-over par 577.  No. 5-ranked Illinois Wesleyan claims the top spot at 13-under par 563, opening with a 285 before firing a blazing 10-under 278.  Carnegie Mellon ranks third with a mark of 579 (289-290) while Washington and Lee (291-289) is one shot behind the Tartans.  A total of 13 teams are competing in this year's Gordin Classic.

Leading the Emory effort on Monday was freshman Logan Ryan whose three-under score of 141 (70-71) is tied for fourth in the 70-player field. Junior Matt Organisak is tied with a host of players for 11th at one-under 143 (70-73) while junior Sam Galloway is deadlocked for 20th at two-over par 146 (71-75). Also competing for the Eagles are sophomore Eric Yiu (75-72—147) and senior Connor Yakubov (78-75—153). 

Brian Peccie of Washington and Lee along with the Illinois Wesleyan tandem of Rob Wuethrich and Andrew Abel are tied for the No. 1 position on the leader board at four-under 140.

The final round of the Gordin Classic is scheduled to be played on Tuesday.
