The No. 1-ranked Emory University golf team closed out its participation at the 28th annual Gordin Classic on Tuesday. The 54-hole event was played on the 7,098-yard, par-72 Columbus Country Club in Ohio.

The Eagles blitzed the 13-team field over the final 18 holes, pacing all squads with a nine-under par 279, tying the school's fifth-best mark, to finish at 856 (286-291-279), second to No. 5- ranked Illinois Wesleyan's 850 (285-278-287).  Emory went into the final day of play 14 strokes behind the Titans but made up eight shots during the course of the round. No. 7 Guilford College took home third place with score of 867 (287-295-285) while No. 4 Wittenberg was fourth (289-296-286—871).  Emory's final team score represented the program's second-best 54-hole performance in school annals, just one shot from the 855 turned in at the 2017 Rhodes College Fall Classic.

The Eagles saw three players break par on Tuesday, led by junior Matt Organisak's four-under par 68 which tied his second-best score while tying for the No. 10 position on the program's all-time single-round chart. Organisak shot an even-par 35 on the front nine before making four birdies over the back nine to come in at 33.   Senior Connor Yakubov shot a three-under 69, which included an eagle-3 on the 490-yard, par-5 eighth hole en route to shooting a five-under 30 on the front.  Freshman Logan Ryan also carded a 69, recording six birdies on the day. Junior Sam Galloway rounded out the team's scoring efforts with a 73 while sophomore Eric Yiu posted a 74.

Ryan ended up as Emory's leader at the tourney, finishing runner-up in the 90-player field at 210 (70-71-69), with that effort the school's third-best individual score for a 54-hole event. Ryan was just one shot off the pace of medalist Rob Wuethrich (69-71—69) from Illinois Wesleyan.  Organisak ranked third on the leader board with a mark of 211 (70-73-68), the fourth-top performance in school history for 54 holes.  By virtue of their finishes, both Ryan and Organisak garnered all-tournament recognition.  Galloway tied for 20th with a showing of 219 (71-75-73) while Yiu (75-72-74—221) and Yakubov (28-75-69—222) tied for 26th and 28th, respectively.

The Eagles return to action, Oct. 8-9, when they play at the Tartan Invitational at the Laurel Valley Golf Club in Pittsburgh.
