The No. 1-ranked Emory University golf team still sits atop the leaderboard following the second round of play at the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational. The 54-hole tournament is being played on the 6,659-yard, par-71 Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, Florida.
The Eagles carded a Monday score of eight-over par 292 and pace the 18-team field with a 36-hole mark of four-under 564. No. 3 Huntingdon picked up some ground on Emory during the second round, shooting three-under par 281 to leave it six shots off the pace at 570. Southwestern University holds down third place with a mark of 574 (282-292) while No. 2 Methodist (295-284) and No. 7 Guilford (291-288) are deadlocked for fourth with scores of 579.
Junior Matt Organisak was the team's top shooter on Monday, firing an even-par 71, picking up five birdies and the same amount of bogeys. Through 36 holes, Organisak is in a four-way tie for sixth place in the 90-player field at one-under par 141. One of those Organisak is tied with is freshman teammate Logan Ryan who closed out Monday's round with a 74. Senior Connor Yakubov posted a two-over par 73 while junior Sam Galloway accounted for the other scoring position with a 74. Yakubov stands 10th overall at one-over 142 while Galloway ranks 30th at 146. Sophomore Eric Yiu is tied with Yakubov, as well as a host of others, at even-par 142 (66-76).
Stephen Shepard of Huntingdon (71-67), Sutherland Stith (68-70) of Southwestern and James Mishoe (70-68) of Guilford are tied for first at four-under par 138.
The final round will be played on Tuesday with the Eagles teeing off at 9:00 am.
